Some notable measurements:

- MKG didn't measure out as all that athletic, and I'm not that surprised. He never struck me as explosive as he was advertised to be, but I think he's still got great tools and a smoothness about him. He'll be fine.

- This entire class is nuts. Tons of 6'11+ guys. 8 players with a max vert over 40", 28 players with a max vert over 37".

- Barnes and Beal did very well, hard to see them slipping at all. Lillard also did well though.

- Austin Rivers' 32.5 standing vert and 37" max vert are surprising, as are Kendall Marshall's 31/37.

- BTW John Henson had an ankle injury which is why he didn't participate and speed agility. I reckon it affected his vertical numbers as well.

Meyers is becoming the "third most coveted bigman" in this draft?

-Davis
-Robinson
-Leonard

Over Drummond? I don't know if I buy that one...

I'm increasingly intrigued by Jeff Taylor. Could he be a cheaper Harrison Barnes? He registered the same vertical reach as Robinson, Festus Ezeli and Terrence Jones. He's also supposed to be a great defender. He's supposed to be going to the Thunder just because most mock drafters think he's a steal.

Someone else stated that as well? I wonder where and when I said that? If so, I have changed my tune since the combine, which I was waiting for

I am surprised at all of the Barnes supporters on the board. He seemed to have a hard time getting his own shot at Carolina. I can't imagine he is going to be able to be very effective in the pros. If he is there with our pick at 10ish, then it's a no brainer, but higher scares me.

I remember from you, and a few other times stating something similar. His jumping ability at the combine all of a sudden changes his ability to get off his shot? Regardless, it's not a bad thing to change opinions.

That he's not as one dimensional as people thought?

OK...but what is the 2nd dimension? Is he going to improve on defense? As a passer/playmaker? A creating his own shot?

What I see is a guy with talent, but only one (albeit valuable) NBA level skill.

For me it was a few things. He tested out athletically way better than most thought, and some scouts have attributed his numbers to the NC system.

Barnes is actually a decent defender, and has the tools to be pretty darn good. He is a very good passer already.

Actually, most of the "experts" consider his playmaking a major weakness. To paraphrase DraftExpress, his assists-per-40 number is among the worst for top SF prospects.

He does, however, seem to have the tools to be a good defender.

Clearly his 40 inch vertical will help him dribble better to the basket and create for himself and others.

Over Drummond? I don't know if I buy that one...

Yeah I definitely put Drummond over him. Drummond is a year and a half younger, produced equally on the glass, comparably in scoring, and definitively better in blocks. Hes the better physical specimen as well.

Leonard seems to have impressed physically but also I think he interviewed well at the combine. Scouts may be concerned that Drummond has no drive or passion. Things like Drummond being such a god awful FT shooter could indicate that he doesn't work that hard.

Does Drummond shooting an NCAA low 30% from the line scare anyone?

I was shocked to see Royce White at <50% and Henson at only 51%. And we all know about Wroten.

Passing is different than play making

I really hate these these type of stats. Play making skills may very well be a weakness for him, (I have no idea) but I hope they are basing their assessment on more than the assist-per 40 stat. There could be lots of reason for this low number. (Like playing with a PG who controlled the game well enough to of had 17 assists in one game)

Sounds like the promise Rives received could have came from the Hornets at #10.

I wonder how this makes Gordon feel? That's an extremely high pick for a backup, don't ya think?

When the New Orleans Hornets compiled their background check on 19-year-old draft prospect Austin Rivers, they didn’t need much help from their scouts. Hornets Coach Monty Williams supplied everything needed because he’s been a close family friend of Boston Coach Doc Rivers since 1994 and has known his son, Austin, since he was a toddler.

But they are seriously considering Austin Rivers, a 6-foot-4 guard who declared for the draft after playing one season at Duke.

Right now, Drummond is an F-22 with a 4 year old sitting in the pilot's seat. He is the rebirth of Daryl Dawkins. Is there any player in this draft who has a bigger chasm between his ceiling and his floor?

In other words: he scares the bejeezus out of me.
