Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Then you go Marshall with the #7 and Henson with the #11.

Marshall would be a serious reach at #7...

POR needs to be focused on talent not plugging position holes (particularly when they could be better filled in free agency)....

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Kemba Walker had a lot of hype going into the draft and he finished this season as one of the worst (FG%) shooters in history for a rookie.

Stay. Away. From. 6-foot. Scoring. Guards. (Walker, Flynn, Mills, etc., etc., etc.)

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

All this Hype on Beal but has anyone taken a step back and realized that Elliot has better college stats then him? I'll be interesting to see how Beal does at the combine because I'm willing to bet that Williams is a better athlete too. Williams has been bitten by the injury bug and the reason he fell so low was because it was known he would need MF surgery before the draft and his game was so reliant on athleticism that people were skeptical he could fully recover.
I'm liking the idea of E.Will getting some serious burn next season. If he stays healthy I think he'll really impress.
Forgot to make my point. I have soured on Beal because of that and if we get another SG i'd like to take a shot at a bigger one whose length will cause a lot of problems in Lamb.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Looks like we'll be picking no lower than #6 with the NJ pick.

Here's to lady luck granting the Blazers the #1 pick (Anthony Davis) and #6 pick (Kendall Marshall).

So with NJ's pick this year we are looking at #6 or 7 ?
4 and 5 are not possible?

And with our pick it could be top 3 or #11?

According to B-Edge, depending if NJ doesn't win the lotto, we'll be picking at either #5 or #6.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

For that NJ pick to drop to #7-9 would mean that 3 teams behind them jumped into the top 3...highly highly unlikely...I would say highly unlikely that 2 of them would, maybe 1 might? long shot though. So that means that if hopefully NJ pick isn't selected top 3, that POR will be picking #6 or #7. Not bad....

Anthony Davis - MKG - T.Robinson - Beal

I think we can safely assume that all 4 of those guys will be gone by the 5th pick....

Your parents were derelict in teaching you the birds and the bees.

Until the coin flip, our seeding is tied at 5 and 6. After the coin flip, we/New Jersey will have either 5th or 6th seed in the lottery, where we/NJ will draw the 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, or whatever draft pick. NJ keeps it if it's 1, 2, or 3.

Your seed is not the same as your pick, and you need to get flipped.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

jlprk, coin was flipped, we/they have 6

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Man, everybody's picking on me. Just call me Dumbo.

How am I supposed to keep up with that thread when I just woke up?

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Chad Ford (via B-Edge) said the Nets are praying they move into the top-3 -- want Davis, MKG, or Beal.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

After there was no chance they would finish in the bottom 3, I thought it odd that they continued tanking, until I realized they were still increasing their chances in the lottery, which they got up to 25%.

So they're still keeping hope alive.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I think Marshall will go top-10 and looking at the prospects that should be there at #11 I'm not too excited.

I'd offer the #11 to HOU for the rights to Donatas Motiejunas -- he has had a Joel Freeland-esque rapid development this year. Measuring nearly 7'2" w/shoes, he's an intriguing prospect. Went #20 last year but with his development he would be a lock for a lotto pick had he pulled out of last years draft.

something weird about a 7'2" guy who cant dunk

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

His 1st-grade teacher wouldn't let him pick his nose and he took it too seriously.

So we want to trade our only draft pick this year, 11th (if we are lucky) in a deep draft for a project Euro big man that went 20th last year in a weak draft?

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

NBAdraft.net with an update:

#6: Bradley Beal
#11: Perry Jones

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Here is a good video of Marshall's 16 assist game against FSU. I can see why people compare him to Jason Kidd.

I wouldn't hate that draft. Perry has potential, not amazed by him, but I think he is one of those high risk/high reward kind of guys.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Chad Ford with an update:

#6: Harrison Barnes
#11: Tyler Zeller

He was slept on, he's a much better prospect than where he was picked. With his development this year he would go top-10 if you can re-do that draft. Chad Ford and DX both labeled him as the most skilled offensive big in the draft. His footwork in the post is Cody Zeller-esque.
