2013 FOOTBALL Commits and Recruiting News

Yes he's a beast, his grades will have to be good to get into UVA, Vatech not so much. As for Bama it'll be tough for him not to look at them seriously! My thinking is if he knows Tyner is here he'll go elsewhere. I hope I'm wrong!

But Tyner is injury prone, I have a feeling he'll be the Nate Costa of RBs at Oregon. All because of friggin track too :V

Heres to hoping that the Texas decommit Seals-Jones picks Oregon(hopefully).

Having issues with hamstrings is a lot less concerning then blowing out a knee. I'm reasonably sure that the athletic trainers at Oregon are a tad bit better then those at Aloha HS.

Lamo is doing Oregon the biggest favor ever. They get hit with one more sketchy recruiting violation and they'll be SMU'd! Lamo is to STUPID and his track record to soiled for him not to trip over himself yet again. It's a matter of when!

I only want two players Vanderdoes and Hutchings and I'll be very happy!

Do ya think we get Redfield or does he make up a lethal secondary for USC? If we were to get Vanderdoes, Hutchings and Redfield our D will be anchored especially with AA and Buckner.....

I sit 50/50 on Redfield can't tell if Su Cravens signing today might shift him there......

I hope we get Redfield. Maybe with Cravens, Redfield may think he won't get enough playing time

Well there are two Safeties on the field...

From my understanding, Redfield has the Ducks as co-favs with the Trojans despite never visiting the state of Oregon. According to him his mother has spent time here and thinks it's beautiful so he's excited to visit UO this summer.

That's why I'm thinking he and Cravens would be an absolute evil secondary for USC!!

If sunshine makes you happy, Oregon is a tough adjust. When I moved here from the south it was very hard for a few years to adapt to the grey and rain. That said, Oregon is a college experience, where as USC and Miami you're hired guns that show up on Saturdays to make a student body you don't mingle with, get recreation release with mommy and daddy's money! Sure you have high exposure with USC to the NFL and a storied team history but most of these guys aren't there to graduate. They're there to be seen and move on.

That's why it's even sweeter when the Ducks beat them... It says team before individual, and isn't that really what football is?

At least USC is doing okay, but god damn people are just ignorant of what the Ducks can do. If we're gonna win we need talent from down south and to the southeast.

We're being put behind in the friggin dust here

In the years I've followed recruiting I cant think of a time where we had two 4* players and one 5* by May.

Oregon coaches are VERY selective with who gets early offers. They dont wanna just throw out to anyone, cause then you could be stuck with someone who ends up being dead weight, or a dipwit kid. And yeah you can pull the scholarship, but then that reflects poorly on the coaching staff and the school.

Also speculation that the class might be half full by the time season even starts. I cant remember a time like that at all!

PS: QB I could def see people being scared off from comitting this season. There are 4 scholarship QB's who have signed their letter of intent to Oregon, and only one of them has less than at least 4 years of eligibility, and thats Bennett, who has 3 years left.

Times are good :)

We still need viable positions though, like for the OL and maybe defense(as next year we'll lose a ton of starters to the draft).

OL is a big priority this recruiting cycle for sure. DL is a priority. IIRC we got 6 DL in the last cycle, so we will take a few I'm sure, but its not as big of a priority.

I'm actually fine with Jennings going to LSU. The QB's we have now are taller and faster. We need to focus on Oline and defensive secondary and LB's...

I still think that when we beat USC's asses this year, with all the hype USC has going around them this time..... it will turn heads and that game is before national signing day.... I think Chip knows it too... I wouldn't be surprised if that game doesn't land us Hutchings and Redfield at the same time...

All this means is that Oregon is deep at QB and guys don't want to come here to never play... I'm fine with giving these guys spots going to defensive and Oline players....

they lose 4 defensive starters next season... DE Jordan, LB's Clay & Kiko, and S Boyette. Thats pretty average really & the kids who will take their places are already on the roster. In the last two classes they've signed 5-7 DEs (depending on where Armstead & Balducci project), 6 LBs, & 3 Safeties. The guys in this next class really start getting into the mix 2 seasons from now, so they'll be replacing next season's Jr class guys like DTs Hart, Heimuli, Keliikipi & Ebert, LB Lokombo, & Safeties Jackson & Patterson.

really the most critical immediate need position for this class to fill is RB, probably next up is adding a stud DT or two. Quality depth they can develop is what they're going for... good kids who'll give their all to the program and be all that they can. They'll be focused on the summer camps and getting to know who has the character they're looking for.

So DT and a good RB, since we have 2 already in Wilson and Tyner. It'd be great if Green commits, but leaving Virginia for Oregon is a huge gamble, and he has Alabama and WVU considering too so I doubt Green would want to leave.

Ryan Green And Alvin Kamara look great though. We'd be stacked with depth if we got either of those 2.

Pagano, if he commits to Oregon would be stellar. John Hunt or Sam Smith would be nice as well.

we are stacked with depth across the board. At least as long as Chip is on board they won't be rebuilding, they'll be reloading

My cousin who played ball for the Sooners and I have the same conversation weekly about recruiting... both our schools need fast and taller secondaries to combat the size of these receivers and TE's coming in to college today. For every kid that isn't offered a scholarship to FSU, UF, LSU, Bama, Auburn and Clemson they often go to small traditionally black schools because they can play. Many of these kids show up in the NFL because of their size and they filled out muscularly with a few years of college. I think we have a coach that can take a 3 * and make him a 4-5* by they time they graduate. In return we'll get a fast tall kid that can knock down balls and would die for the experience to be a DUCK!!! I know for a fact that many kids, me being one of them growing up thought Portland was Maine and that's a crime....Our recruiters need to start grooming that area, cause there are diamonds all over that region. USC grabbing Agholor should show they've noticed it too...

BTW I still think OK and OK state should join the Pac-12..... The battle of the OU's would be epic especially for the PAC-14 title! Besides the Sooners would give USC a run for their money yearly for the Pac-12 south

word is Eddie V tore it up today in Eugene!
