Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

We won a whole bunch of games the first half of the season even though it was clear we were not a decent playoff team. Overachieving the first half of the season likely cost us Oladipo or McClemore. Either tank or don't tank. If we are going to keep LaMarcus, clearly it's a no tank. If we are going to trade him, do it before the season so he doesn't cost us five slots in the draft.

That's how I feel also. Again, only if Aldridge really asked to be traded.

Rumors: Mavs talking with Celtics about Rajon Rondo? http://po.st/gOAydV

The Celtics are like, "Fuck it." ... and then they will get bumped to the 4th pick in the draft like with the '07 draft. Which is still a good pick but they arent messing around

I bet it wont the the Celtics 10 years to build a team that can contend though.

Ainge isn't the most brilliant GM, but hes aggressive and both plans and executes well.

I would hope not. They can attract bigger name free agents in their market and they have proven they arent afraid to make a big trade to get where they want to go. They do whatever it takes to get to a championship.

Sometimes I feel like the idea of building a long term contender doesnt have the likelihood of winning a title as making the big moves to get a roster that year or next that can go deep. Do you value a REALLY good shot at winning one title or a "good" chance to contend for 5-10 years? What kind of gambler are you and how patient are you in relation to what you are willing to spend.

Something tells me if we had won a title with our expensive star teams in the early 2000's then PA would be a lot more open to going for broke every few years like he did then. Instead one complete meltdown in the 4th quarter and bad reffing has scarred him from every going that route again.

Getting strong indications that Hakeem Olajuwon, last seen at Thursday's draft, will be joining Rockets' delegation to woo Dwight Howard

Houston is not messing around

I can't recall a big name FA ever joining the Celtics. Hell Jason Terry choosing them is the biggest name they'v attracted via FA in years.

Probably true I havent gone back to look but I still feel like their history and market is better than Portland in the eyes of most players which is why my response was that it wont take them as long to build a contender

Maurice Speights has declined player option with Cleveland and will become a free agent, league source tells Y! Sports.

Re: Official 2013 Free Agency thread

If we're replacing Aldridge, I would rather go Al Jeff. He's a better scoring option in the post. The guy put up a 21 PER last year.

there may be interest for a Brooke Lopez/LMA swap, would U B interested in that? I'm not sure but I think i would as there a lot of available PF's in FA and few C's worth going after

Re: Official 2013 Free Agency thread

No to Al Jefferson. No defense whatsoever.

A lot of guys opting out of these contracts are gonna get a cruel welcome to the new world of NBA labor.

They don't have quite enough cap space to offer him the max yet. I wonder why they didn't end up trading Thomas Robinson, as that was how they were supposed to be doing it. Maybe they think they're going to sign-and-trade with the Lakers?

I'm getting close to giving up on getting Asik, at least without giving up more than I want to, because I think he's enough of an asset (unlike Robinson, apparently) to want to hang on to, even if he's kind of redundant. Unless we do this (and we get Mirotic and Charlotte's 2014 pick)

I would do that easily

There are way more quality PFs available; plus lopez is on a long contract. Then you even can try and bring hickson back as starter.

So we can put out a lineup of Lillard, McCollum, JJ, Lopez and somebody and have the worst-defending lineup in history?

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I wonder if ATL is going to do a full rebuild if they strike out in FA.

Re: Official 2013 Free Agency thread

Asik/Peckovic or bust.

Leonard will see major progression on the court this year so whoever it is he'll be splitting a lot of time with Leonard.

I want thomas Robinson on our team

Sent from my baller ass iPad FAMS!

I'm pretty much here as well.

Just no Gortat or Pachulia!

Talking of splitting, I'd put Tiago in there as a third option. He's a better defender than Pekovic and a better scorer than Asik...

Re: Official 2013 Free Agency thread

Call me crazy but a LMA/Leonard/Josh Smith rotation at PF/C would be interesting. Supposedly Smith is not expected to get any max offers so possibly not unrealistic.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

For the tank, silly. ;)

Low cost lotto pick PF. Give him a couple of years. He's gonna bust out when he gets the chance.

Splitter also is a great pick n roll player, which is something that would be very good for Lillard, as he's an excellent pick n roll guy with no one to feed right now. Aldridge is too narrow, more of a pick n pop guy.
