Pg - Lillard
SG - McCollum/Allen
I'd love this rotation.
That'd be what's up...
Learning from our Mayo years, it'd probably work best like this -
PG - Lillard/McCollum
SG - Allen/McCollum/Barton
Let Lillard focus on the offense while Allen locks down the other team's best player defensively... then when both teams go to the bench, you'd have McCollum/Barton with another scoring punch that your opponent can't match off the bench.
Can't believe we're selling such a valuable defensive player so short...
So true
Just stay away from Tony Allen, and ya'll are cool in my book...
For some reason, Grizz management seems reluctant to offer the best defender in the league a relatively measly $6 mill...
If ya'll jump on TA for that price, I might just have to become a Blazers fan instead.
BTW - How bullshit is it that a guy like Monta Ellis, who is nothing but a pure scorer, can command near-MAX money, yet the league's best lockdown defender, in his prime, is having trouble getting $6 mill? That really speaks to the state of the game...
...Splitter...
Do you think we could possibly get Splitter for 7 or 8 million? San Antonio doesn't usually like to spend big $$$.
...Thomas Robinson?
...Kirilenko or Millsap?
...Webster?
...Andre Miller?
We have 11.6 mil to offer. You think minny matches? We blow our entire load on this signing.
IMO we are NOT going to tie up money like last yr and miss out on other chances with Minny very likely to match
Once an offer is made, there are three days to match and its over. Quick and easy. The reason the Batum thing took so damn long was because they didn't actually make an offer at first, but said they were going to, trying to force us to haggle. Then, they made an offer, but it was an illegal offer, and then finally once all that was worked out the three days to match began.
Portland is not run by the dumb Kahn, so they will simply make a good offer and wait 3 days. That's it.
My advice to the Blazers is to stay the hell out of the first round of free agency, unless it's for a legitimate star. Look at how many teams have money, and look at how little talent is really out there. It's simple economics: Too little supply of talent and too much demand for it, drives prices way up.
We're not competing for squat this year. It's best to save our cap space for a future year when there are fewer teams with cap space and more appetizing free agents. We'll get better players at better prices when we can better use them.
Right now, we're set to overpay for mediocrity. A team in our position can't afford to do it. Let other teams overpay. Make offers, but be disciplined about it. Chances are we'll lose our top choices, but don't let that discourage you. Wait until the smoke clears, see what's left and then make a reasonable offer to those players. Chances are, all those players will do is solidify our bench a bit, and barely make an impact.

I thought the old timeline was three days. Didn't they shorten it?

I don't think we have that luxury Max. This is our one year to show Aldridge we're improving our winning ways. We have to sign two guys who can make a difference immediately. LMA has two years left on his contract. If we don't make the playoffs next season, we will either have to trade him next summer or before the trade deadline in the 2014-2015 season. I'm still not convinced that Aldridge hasn't made the decision that he wants to leave in two years, but if we're really making a push to keep him, this is our year. This is our one chance.
Aldridge is gone. Luckily, his value is at an all time high. Trade him this year and rebuild with the remains.
Marc Stein: Rockets, I'm told, still exploring trades for Aaron Brooks and/or Carlos Delfino that must be consummated today to avoid releasing them Twitter @ESPNSteinLine
Any interest? Both pretty decent players but we don't need a SG. Can Carlos play SF?
Nope. We can't have them eating up our cap space.
