Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Oh man, in like 2 seconds and then slap me for taking that long.

Who would you take #1. No other trades scenarios. No other picks. Just Batum for #1. I would do it as well but not sure who is better between Oladipo and McLemore. but it would be one those two. I love Oladipo, but McLemore is just as athletic and has a great jump shot.

But Oladipo is a better defender....and has intangibles

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

McLemore sounds way too passive. His college career ended in a fizzle. We have too many quiet types on this team. If it's between him and Oladipo, give me Oladipo every time.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Batum infuriates me as much as any Blazer, but I think I would be majorly bummed if he was traded. Especially for a pick in THIS crappy draft. Aldridge is a much better player, but I wouldn't care as much, sad to say.

it would be between Oladipo, Porter and Noel. Either way we benefit because our cap room just about doubled and we got most likely at least an equal talent to Batum

So you replace Batum with a less athletic version?

Something to be said about a player who graduated from College in 3 years.....
however McLemore was just a freshman. Was Oladipo a leader at that age?

Would you stop there or go full rebuild by moving LMA also?

I have been pro trading Aldridge for a while now, but it depends on what I could get with my now 20+ million dollars in cap room and the #1 and #10 pick. Portland could get real good, real fast with those assets

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Oladipo #1. Wow. Fans in Indiana would seriously laugh at the thought. People here still think he's borderline lottery, much less a guaranteed top 10.

You want to trade LA, Batum . . . a couple more years we can add Lillard to that list, or is he already on it. :)

But Kingspeed says he's a cross between Dwyane Wade and Michael Jordan!

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Marcus Smart would have been the consensus #1 pick had he stayed in. He has zero shot at that next year.

IMO, it's a swing for the fences mentality, and it's the one we need in order to have a shot at a title. As long as his rookie year isn't his peak, Lillard already is a home run. Batum's production at his current salary is more like an Ichiro-style slap single. Swapping Batum for Oladipo--hoping he becomes an all-star player--is an Adam Dunn-type all-or-nothing cut.

He might have been in the mix for the to spot with other guys, but no, not consensus #1.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Swinging for the fences rarely was a good approach to use when at the plate . . . problem with swinging for the fences is it more often than not leads to an out.

Haha, so true. Patience is a virtue many don't seem to have.

For starters, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh could put an end to their days together in Miami, with all three able to terminate their contracts after next season.

Carmelo Anthony could also join them in free agency next year, as well as Zach Randolph, Andre Iguodala and Rudy Gay.

In addition, old-timers Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol and Kevin Garnett are free to go wherever they want on July 1, 2014.

If it's up-and-comers you need, John Wall, Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins and Greg Monroe will be restricted free agents.

Still want more names? Luol Deng, Andrew Bogut, Kyle Lowry, Danny Granger and Marcin Gortat will be unrestricted free agents. Monta Ellis can join the crowd if he exercises an $11-million player option for next season, making him a free agent in 2014.

The Lakers will have a first-round pick for the first time since 2007, and they'll also have plenty of free-agent money. Their only player under contract right now for 2014-15 is Steve Nash ($9.7 million).

If Howard bolts in July and Bryant retires after next season, the Lakers in 2014 will have enough purchasing power for two max-contract free agents and a third making pretty good money.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Here's a question I was pondering:

Suppose Paul Allen promised to give LeBron a chunk of his Microsoft shares if he would sign with the Blazers, and he did and he did. Would that actually be illegal? I'm sure there must be some safeguard against it, but doesn't capitalism demand it?

definitely illegal.

I always wondered how Karl Malone and John Stockton had their own car dealerships while they were still playing in Utah. I know they were not given them outright, but their names were on the different dealerships.

definitely illegal.

Obviously "illegal" is the wrong word, because it wouldn't be that, but "against some NBA rule". But if so, which one?

rule dictating salaries, and the cap. Nothing can be given as added incentive beyond the reported money.

I don't know where you read that fans in Indiana don't think Oladipo is good enough to go #1 in this draft. I'm more a college basketball fan then NBA and have watched all the top players and IMO Oladipo is the best player by far of any of them. This is a weak draft and in most drafts Oladipo wouldn't even be in the top 5 but in this draft he is the best prospect with the most upside. I wouldn't draft any of those top 3-4 other supposedly ranked players. I also think when it comes down to the draft after the teams work out all the players Oladipo will be #1 or #2.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Last rumor I heard was Wes Mathews and #10 draft pick to the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan. Look for it to happen on draft day I guess.

God no that's such a horrible horrible trade for us. Dont go after Jordan to begin with but if you do just give up the pick no reason what so ever to toss mathews in as well.
