Recall, at the time Mase was a second-year player putting up an 18 PER off the bench behind Brook Lopez. I wouldn't have thought he would be available with the 23 pick, and was pleasantly surprised with the deal. The comparison between Plumlee 2015 and Oubre now is actually a pretty strong one.

Yeah, numbers favor Plumlee

Plumlee PER: 18
Oubre PER: 11.9

Plumlee WS: 4.8
Oubre WS: 3.7

Plumlee BPM: 0.8
Oubre BPM: -1.2

Plumlee VORP: 1.2
Oubre VORP: 0.4

You’d be trading for what you think Oubre could become, rather than what he really is. Not much different than Harkless. I think the 24th pick is fair, especially since you’d have to pay him next summer.

Plumlee was a more productive player than Oubre but ok.
I disagree, and he was also stuck behind Lopez and both were strictly centers. And he didn't have Oubres potential.

Guys I think are good value picks at #24:
- Jalen Brunson, 6'3" G, Villanova, 28.9 ppg, 4.6 apg, 3.1 rpg, 40.8% 3pt
- Keita Bates-Diop, 6'7" F, Ohio St, 19.8 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.6 bpg, 35.9% 3pt
Both have had pre-draft workouts by the Blazers.

Another guy that I like that should be available around that range:
- Moritz Wagner, 6'11" C, Michigan, 14.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 0.8 apg, 39.4% 3pt
He wasn't worked out by the Blazers that I'm aware of.

Looking forward to the draft this week!

In my dream draft we trade CJ for the 4th and Parsons, we get Faried and the 14th for our big TPE, we trade the 24th, 14th and future draft picks to get into the top ten for a second time. We take Jaren Jackson Jr. 4th and trade those picks for Mikal Bridges. We start Dame, Bridges, Chief, Jackson and Nurk. We would have a bench that would feature Parsons, Faried, Turner, Moe and a re-signed Shabazz. I think we would be more athletic, far better defensively and just as potent offensively.

I’d do CJ for parsons and 4 but there’s no way Neil would so these scenarios are just a waste of time. But if we did get 4 and got to choose between Doncic, Bamba, and Jackson..man that’s tough. To me Doncic and Bamba are 1a and 1b but I admittedly haven’t watched Jackson enough, just because I know we don’t have a shot at him. I didn’t really even watch Bamba this year, I was already sold on him when I saw him at the hoop summit. Doncic I’ve seen plenty and still maintain is the best player in the draft.

Faried and no. 14 still intrigues me, I also think Faried could actually play a little bit here too. He could replace Davis who I doubt we will be able to re-sign under current cap situation, he’s not as good as him but brings some of the same qualities (rebounding, hustle play).

If Denver are up for a trade then Atlanta and Dallas will offer them a better deal because they could attach a late first (Atlantas’s no. 30) or early second (Dallas no. 33) and that immediately become a better deal than just cap space or cap space plus future seconds.

Then again we could offer no. 24 but at that point it might become too much, unless someone truly interesting in a position of need is still on board at 14 (Knox, Miles Bridges, maybe Zhaire Smith).

Unfortunately Luka Doncic was playing 5 on 5 and not one on zero in the ACB finals tonight, so NBA teams picking in the top five came away unimpressed with his performance, and his draft stock continues to falter.

The whole point of trading Faried is to dump his entire salary, freeing up Denver to make other moves and getting under the tax. The only team that could take on Faried without sending salary back on draft night are Portland and Dallas. Those are the only two options in my eyes for a Faried trade this week.

What game were you watching? Doncic looked excellent.

Wait, I think this is sarcasm.

Fingers crossed

Dallas would probably take that deal so we could outbid them with #24 for #14, #43, and Faried.

I think trades not involving the first pick aren’t usually announced until after teams make their selections, so we’ll have to wait until Thursday. Great.
How it works is up until the close of the league offices on Wednesday you can finalize trades involving picks. On the day of the draft all trades must be made after the pick(s). I'm not entirely sure why they do it that way. I like the way the NFL does it where they announce that the pick has been traded when making the selection.

I actually like it like this, that is as long as I don’t accidentally get it spoiled by Woj/Shams. It adds to the suspense. I remember when we drafted RHJ. The trade with Brooklyn wasn’t announced for like another hour or so after. Thought we had RHJ in the bag. Then a heart ripped out. But it’s still fun.

If the plan is to trade the tpe and 24 for KF and 14 and then let Davis walk and give Kenneth Ed’s minutes then I hate Neil even more.

I don’t see any difference makers after 9/10 in this draft, whoever thinks it’s deep is WRONG.

If we did get into the top 8 or so I’m sure we would be targeting Mikal but the idea of a Bamba/Collins frontcourt sounds pretty dominant for the next decade. If i was a Nurk supporter i might feel different but i like centers who go up strong under the rim, not try to draw contact on fadeaway layups.

Two strong front court players is nice, but only works if you have strong wing play which we don't have. NBA is about wing play with ability to shoot and drive then add the bigs to defend and cleanup. Then a couple spot up shooters to round out the lineup and then you may have a chance to contend. The only chance Portland has to contend is by maximizing CJ's value and hitting on everything we get for him. It can be done, but I think we are further from contending than most think...or want to admit.

It’s this coming Tuesday right?

Man this snuck up quick. Thought it was gonna be a long summer...

Trying to find a trade that works for Tobias Harris to use as our third wing @ sf.

Harris is a more accurate 3pt shooter (.411) than CJ (.397) and Dame (.368)

You sound like you don't know what you're talking about. This draft is very deep. Lots of long-range guys though.

#24 isn't too much at all. One of those guys will be available there. Lonnie Walker is good.

Weren’t you just saying like two days ago that there wasn’t going to be anyone there at 24? Lol.
I said there's no one worth getting via trade that makes it worth trading #24.
