I'm fine with the appropriate risk. It was a risk signing Nurk this summer, but it's one we took, and it's paying off in dividends.

Putting all of our eggs in one basket for a one year rental, and risk losing Dame in FA for a supermax on an established team is NOT a risk that I personally want to take. ESPECIALLY as Dame/Davis cannot get us to a championship alone. They just can't do it. We NEED more.

And seeing as how it's the equivilent of pulling teeth just to get Davis, what are the chances that any other notable player is going to WANT to come here to Portland to play?

Like I said: I'm fine with risk. Appropriate risk. Not gross risk that has a good potential to leave our team as being one of the worst in the league. And don't forget who the genius is we have as GM.......because you know, his draft picks have REALLY hit it out of the park.......

I would say only take the risk that gives us the best possible chance for a championship. Keeping Nurk and landing Davis is a far better chance at that than dealing away Nurk and just having AD/Dame.

Signing Nurk this summer wasn't much of a risk, especially because he signed for such a low number, he's barely making more than Meyers... Dame / AD are popular enough I'm sure there are guys who would want to play with them... It's a risk I'd take but neither of us are the GM so all we can do is argue if we would take that risk or not. I would, you wouldn't guess that's that. :)

I agree. One of either Nurk or CJ but not both. Then Collins (don't want to but have to), Draft picks and whatever else it takes.

I'm sticking with CJ. I think we can still get a lot out of him in a trade, and Nurk, IMO, brings more to the table than CJ does.
 
There are a LOT of opportunities out there. If Portland doesn't get any of them that would actually make a difference, it will be extremely disappointing.

Agreed, keeping Nurk and landing Davis is the best option. BUT if that's NOT an option, which is the very premise we've all been harping on, and that you seemingly refuse to address, do you think that Dame/CJ/Nurk gives a better chance at a championship than Dame/Davis?

How in the hell do you know that Dame/AD and role players can't win the title? Also, how do you know we couldn't keep AD? You're assuming a lot. When you get a chance to put two guys like Dame and AD together, you do it.

I'd definitely want to Keep Nurk, to have Nurk / AD and Dame, but I totally agree with you if you can put two guys together of that caliber you have to try too.

If it doesn't get us a championship, then no. A championship is our ultimate goal, right? We stand a better CHANCE with that by having someone of Nurk's caliber, then just having Dame and Davis.

Dame and Davis + roll players are NOT winning against Golden State. For the same reason that LeBron/Davis are not winning a championship against them either.

I am going to ask a question and be honest outside of Dame who would you be most upset if they traded ? -- also not talking let's say they have to give up Layman ( who everyone loves atm ) in a package to get a A. Davis -- i am talking about let's say Portland trade Layman tomorrow to get the Wolves Saric or something like this.

Honestly Dame is the only talent on the team I believe would be almost impossible to recover. Everyone else even though I like most of them, they are fairly replaceable in the NBA sense.

Literally the ONLY time he's ever won anything (and let's be honest - that was won/lost by Gentry/Stotts) - otherwise he's lead his team straight to the lottery, something Dame has never done.

Still waiting to hear how it is that such an awesome player consistently sucks at winning games...
