now this I disagree with...making the playoffs is like making the sweet 16 in March madness

NBA Playoffs: 16 out of 30 = 53%
Sweet 16: 16 out of 64 = 25%

The Hornets are on pace to make the Playoffs with 39 wins. They are not exactly setting the bar very high.

sense of pride and accomplishment plus invaluable experience...100%! 30 NBA teams is a lot tougher road to me than 64 college teams

It's not really 30 when 6-7 teams are deliberately tanking every year.

best of 7 over one and done....the teams that tank aren't in the conversation of pride and accomplishment in my view

Yes mathematically its not equivalent. I keep posing this question to myself. As a fan what do I find a “good year” to be? How far do the Blazers have to go in order for ME to feel like they had a successful season?

Its kind of an expectations thing. A few years ago I was just happy they made the dance! Last year was the first in the post LMA era I really had high expectations. I thought they were going to be in the 2nd round and take GS to 5 maybe 6 if Dame or CJ had one of those games. So while the regular season was fun at times (and incredibly frustrating in others), it was a year I ultimately felt let down by.
This year what bothers me is I feel the same about it... I think if things go right their ceiling is the 2nd round, while theres been some internal growth I think many of the teams around them have gotten better too though.

Anyways all this to say, for me as a fan Making the playoffs is nice but they gotta at least take a series to 7 games before Id really be satisfied, and really if they want to show that this core is going anywhere I think they have to at least make the 2nd round.

Ok I don’t want Love but with our history of recruiting Free agents would you do this deal if Cle would?

And 2019 Por 1st to Cle

Dame/Curry
CJ/Baldwin
Moe/Layman
Love/Chief
Nurk/Nards

Sauce-Trent-Simons

I feel like we would get 2 good seasons out of Love then talk about him like ET the final 2 years.

Ha that is funny, sad, and true........
It always comes down to the money for most fans. They love you when you are good and cheap, and hate you when you are good but not as good as your salary suggests that you should be.

I'd rather do Turner, Swanigan, and two 1sts.

I've also seen CJ, Collins and Turner for Love, Hood and Thompson.

NOP Gets: Evan Turner, 2019 POR 1st
POR Gets: Nikola Mirotic, Solomon Hill
DAL Gets: Meyers Leonard (TPE)

Saves us $3.71M this year (I believe that would open up the Bi-Annual Exception since we'd be under the hard cap after using it?)

Itd also save us apx. $17M next off-season (Not counting Hill)

Why would Dallas want this?

They desperately need a C and have a lot of mediocre salaries lined up to expire in 2020. Leonard spacing the floor would be interesting for them.

Ok hear me out, Jrue is pissed because he basically signed there because of AD, so maybe while they’re rebuilding they let him have his good buddy ET for a season and a half.

Por 2019 1st to NO

I know I’m grasping at straws here but it’s real late and all the trade talk has me fantasizing.

Serious question, how do you think other teams value Zach when it comes to trades?

Not a fan. Essentially attaching a 1st to dump Turner and trading Zach for a half-season rental or Randle and a possible half-season rental of Mirotic.

Blame the owners. When the "luxury tax" threshold is so low that even middle-of-the-pack teams are constantly up against it, it is no longer a luxury tax. The entire system needs a huge revamp to allow teams more flexibility, which is the antithesis of what the majority of owners want. The consequences of a bad contract should be to the bottom line, not the ability to compete on the floor. Until that changes, fans are going to judge players by their contract.

There was a HUGE bump back in 2016. The owners wanted to spread it out over see cereal treats but the players wanted it all up front. The GMs then went and spent it all ood which the owners signed of on because when one started doing it, the others didn't want to be left behind.
No one forced all those 4 years contracts on Neil. .. that was his idea. Even if he spent the money, they could have been for 2-3 years. No one else was offering that kind of money.

Brian Windhorst was on the radio yesterday and said that Mo Bamba is available.

That's would make D69 quite happy.
Me too. I wonder what its take. Two future 1sts? Idk. He'd be the perfect 3rd big though. I think he could play PF if needed as hes pretty agile. Nurk, Bamba, and Collins would be a great trio going forward.

I wouldn't do this Love is so injury prone. Amount what he making is not worth out to get him.

Can we get Wesley Johnson's expiring instead? I'm not giving up a 1st in that deal if we have to take Solomon Hill too.

The Leonard part can be separated.
