I guess we can pick one of Stauskas or Baldwin back up now, since we have a roster spot and the Pacers are going to waive them.

If we are on the buyout market, I'd like to see them waive Swanigan to create another roster spot. He's a waste of space.
that's one of those things you only do after you've lined someone up to fill that spot. No need to do it now.

where did I advocate that? See if you can find any post of mine wanting a trade for Mirotic

people were saying Portland couldn't trade for Mirotic because they don't have expiring contracts...that's wrong

people were saying Portland couldn't trade for Mirotic because they don't have any 2nd round picks. But they have a 1st that would likely trump a bunch of 2nds

personally, I'm fine with no Mirotic on Portland. That was reason enough to not do the trade. Those reasons about expirings and 2nds were bullshit though

If you suggest a trade like you did, that means you think it is plausible. Sure, we could massively overpay, but that's not in the realm of plausibility.

People said it because our assets would be a massive reach, so no... we don't realistically have the assets to create a win win trade on both sides, which would be reasonable expiring contracts and second rounders. If we gave them what they wanted, we would be shooting ourselves in the foot.

At least, that's how I interpret it. Technically we could trade Dame for almost anything, so I guess all reasons are bullshit if ya wanna pick nits.

Blazers could have beat that. Dammit Neil what the fuck are you doing?

No, the Blazers didn't have the combination of ending contracts (unless you're willing to part with Chief and Curry for Mirotic) and second round picks that were needed to get the job done. Sure, he could have thrown an offer of Harkless plus a first at the Pelicans (and probably did), but they want cap relief for this summer, not next.

...all that damage and the Rockets are only 1/2 game behind the Blazers.

Which is a pretty steep fall off considering we got swept in the first round with this exact team and they probably should've won a title...

Good for them, I suppose.

I’m starting to get a sinking feeling that our “needle mover” (if there is one) might just be Frank Kaminsky. FML......

Well guys I think Olshey is done and if players don't during free agent I don't expect picking up anybody on players getting dump. You might see Olshey picking up players on 10 day contract till the end of the season or leave the spot open.

About 70 minutes to go. There have been a bunch of trades earlier than normal... but if feels like things are fizzling out. Suppose most teams are done for the year?

Perhaps he's thinking, "Unlike the Bucks, Nikola Mirotic wouldn't make us a title contender this season, so it's probably unwise to spend picks on a player who won't be here long term."

Possibly...

Nik and Wade get traded to the Pacers? Hurray, I can like Wade again!

What a move by Milwaukee. They somehow turned Maker, Smith and a bunch of second round picks into Mirotic who will help them massively in the playoffs.

We couldn’t really match that offer with a bunch of untouchables though.

Maker --> Collins
Smith --> Simons

Would we have done Collins + Simons + seconds for Mirotic?

They only gave second rounders. They did send Maker, a lottery pick, to a third team to make it happen.

Neil may be stuck going after 'buy-out' players.....who will have the option of where they want to go. Wonder how that will work out....

How is Smith an equivalent for Simons? That would be a much higher price to pay.

Collins and Maker aren’t equal either.

oops, was thinking about sterling brown. We don't have a Jason Smith analog. My bad

Collins and Maker have like the exact same stats over their first two years and both were #10 draft picks.
