He got 25ppg and 3.5apg on insane efficiency and plays good defense at 24... How is he a "fringe all-star"?
I wish CJ was younger. We sat on him way too long.

It's about you basically putting words into my mouth.

You're so full of shit dude. I came up with the idea and said I'd do it and you said:Once again you assume my posts are about you, but I was responding to someone else (who I quoted). I didn't quote or mention you in the post you got all fired up about. If I'm posting about you, I'll tag or quote you.
He was 5th in backcourt all-star voting (fans, players media). The next player below him did not make the team. Therefore he was the last backcourt player to be selected. If the last guy eastern conference backcourt player selected, playing in his first all-star game isn't a fringe all-star, then I guess there are no frigne all-stars (minus CJ for some).
I also love how you say "Olshey needs to acquire an all-star" and then when Jaylen Brown gets brought up it's "He's not enough of one based off voting!"... He's 24. He's still getting better. I don't realistically see how you can expect anything better back.Only someone who thought CJ wasn't great, had a bad contract, DJJ was junk, and RoCo wasn't a difference maker would be willing to do something like this.
Eric Gordon's contract already matches up with Walls. As far as Indiana's side of this, I don't see how they say no. Getting RoCo slides Sabonis to his more natural position and provides a good defensive forward they need and who meshes well with their players.
Houston trades a bad 4-year contract at about $18M per for a bad 3-year contract at about $35M per that matches up with Wall's and gets a pick out of it.
Question mark would be Boston IMO but I'd jump on this if I'm Portland.
Shit if we can get Myles Turner out of the deal why don't we take him and get what we can for Nurk?Would Boston even do that?
That's too much for Jaylen Brown. I'd rather not take on the black hole contract that is Eric Gordon.
Give Houston our first for a 2nd year in a row?
Indiana would ask for a least a pick with Roco and DJJ
Just so we're clear, the first tradeable first rounder we now have is 2023... not that it makes a huge difference.POR Gets: Jaylen Brown, Christian Wood, Kelly Oynyk
BOS Gets: CJ McCollum, Myles Turner, Avery Bradley
IND Gets: Jusuf Nurkic, RoCo, Eric Gordon, Por 2022 1st
HOU Gets: Kemba Walker, Caris Lavert, POR 2024 1st
Not necessarily. If the trade happens after the draft in July, we can trade the '22 pick.Just so we're clear, the first tradeable first rounder we now have is 2023... not that it makes a huge difference.
Yeah, we can pull that shit again like we did last year. Not necessarily. If the trade happens after the draft in July, we can trade the '22 pick.
I absolutely jump on this deal. Brown is a perfect player for our new core of Dame/Powell/Nurk. Gordon would be our microwave scorer off of the bench. I like it a lot. An ideal PF would be one that can shoot 3 of course, defend multiple positions, and rebound wellBOS Gets: Myles Turner, C.J. McCollum
IND Gets: Robert Covington, Derrick Jones Jr.
HOU Gets: Kemba Walker, 2022 POR 1st
POR Gets: Jaylen Brown, Eric Gordon
Good catch you're right. They might do that for a first or two though considering the position they're in.Eric Gordon's contract already matches up with Walls.
Wall's contract has 2 more years for $91M (technically he has a player option the second year, but he will not be opting out of that)
Gordon has 3 more years, but the 3rd year ('23-24) is NOT guaranteed. Effectively he has 2 years for $37M.
Walker has 2 years (but like Wall he will not opt out of the second year salary) for $73M.
You are having Houston take on almost $40M of salary to upgrade from Gordon to Walker. The contracts are effectively the same length... I'm not sure that makes much sense for Houston.
Come on Chris….. you couldn’t work a fifth team into this?????POR Gets: Christian Wood, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart
BOS Gets: CJ McCollum, Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon
HOU Gets: Kemba Walker, Caris Lavert, POR 1st 2022
IND Gets: John Wall, RoCO, DJJ, HOU 1st 2022, POR 1st 2024
It be alright but I don't see Boston giving up Brown.Curious if people would take Portland's side of this deal (CJ, RoCo, DJJ and a 1st for Jaylen Brown and Eric Gordon's awful contract).
Is Brown that much of an upgrade if we could re-sign Powell? I would rather upgrade at a bigger position.Curious if people would take Portland's side of this deal (CJ, RoCo, DJJ and a 1st for Jaylen Brown and Eric Gordon's awful contract).

Both elite defenders I’d love to get for CJ in some sort of package. Separately, of course

I am this year. He was always thought to be a potential elite defender, and this year he finally lived up to that……or close to itHold the phone...are you calling Andrew Wiggins an "elite" defender??

Sorry, I'm not keeping track of whos ideas these are, I was responding to someone else.
I think I said I would trade CJ for Brown straight up, did I not? Throw DJJ in, great with me! RoCo and a 1st seems like a lot, but maybe CJ, DJJ, and RoCo just aren't as good as we have been saying?
I dislike CJ and I like Brown, but i think it's a bit too much as well. At least save RoCo from that deal somehow, but then it seems it's not enough. Very difficult to trade with the Celtics.
But the six-time All-Star turns 31 in July. The nagging injuries have started, and the window to win with Lillard is closing. Olshey has given rival teams no indication that he’s willing to trade Lillard.
Lillard and his agent, Aaron Goodwin, could easily change that tone, though. A person close to Lillard told CNBC that he’s expected to wait to see what the Blazers do this off-season before deciding his future.
A rival NBA agent, who faced a similar situation with a star player, said Lillard could first gauge how serious ownership is about winning. The Blazers’ willingness to pay into the luxury tax, which carries steep financial penalties, is also a factor.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were mentioned as one possible destination for McCollum. The San Antonio Spurs like McCollum, but his name hasn’t gained traction within their trade scenarios. A Western Conference executive floated the idea of the Clippers trading Paul George this summer if the team failed to meet expectations. Hence, a possible McCollum to the Clippers package. And if Miami can’t lure a Lillard deal, McCollum could be an option there, too.
On the business side, McGowan doesn’t want the pressure of losing Lillard, either.
When a rebuild occurs, a team loses leverage in negotiating corporate partnerships. The Blazers will be navigating a new regional sports network partner, moving from NBC Sports Northwest to AT&T’s Root Sports. Distribution issues have been a concern for the team for years and has cost it audience reach. But entering a new local TV deal with no superstar isn’t ideal.
Lillard is a huge financial draw, and losing him could be devastating. There would likely be fewer nationally televised games. It’s here the team’s jersey patch asset could take a hit because less exposure makes that advertising real estate less attractive.
Lillard’s value is no secret to management. A team executive, who asked not to be named so he could speak candidly, told CNBC that a Lillard departure is the biggest risk to the franchise’s value declining.
The executive added that the team as currently constructed clearly isn’t good enough to win a title. Regardless of who’s to blame, the person said, big changes have to be made.

Some interesting tidbits here:
Probably referring to Giannis here.
Spurs are an interesting choice, especially if DeRozan doesn't return. Pop is not going to want to field a rebuilding roster. Derrick White is an interesting name.
@SlyPokerDog This you?
This is very much my point. This is only a good deal if you think DJJ and RoCo just aren't very important players.
I was having a hard time wrapping my head around how someone could point to guys like DJJ and RoCo all season as these amazing talents, and then be fine adding them, along with CJ "all-star" McCullon AND and 1st round pick. Did those guys become way less talented all of a sudden? Were they never that talented in the first place?
CJ, Collins and a 1st seems decent.
