I'm a liberal so in a way that resonates....but I also believe in personal freedom and accountability. I suppose in this case that could be distilled to "Freedumb is better than the Nanny State". I do agree with those saying that the State of Oregon shouldn't be promoting this shit; which probably means the state shouldn't have a vested interest
it's only slightly related, but I remember a big study, quite a few years ago. I think if was by MIT and NYU. It was measuring emotional responses to investment outcomes in the stock markets. What they found was that people had a much more emotionally intense negative reaction to losses than the intensity of their reactions to gains. Basically, winning didn't register as highly on whatever intensity meter(s) they were using as the losses did. I can believe that because while I remember some of the times I picked stocks that had substantial gains, I REALLY REALLY REALLY remember the stupid fucking losing bets I made
