did we spend a #7 pick on Keon? has he ever shown the kinda star potential that Shaedon has? i feel like you're being dense on purpose and not seeing the big picture.

shaedon popping is one of the only avenues we have to get out of the mud. playing him 8 minutes while Cam Reddish takes his minutes in a dumbass showcase is idiotic.
I guess I am still trying to figure out what star potential Sharpe has shown besides a possible dunk contest win? He averages 20 minutes a game and needs to start showing more. He needs to earn some minutes. Just giving him minutes because he was the #7 pick and has some potential is not enough. He needs to earn those minutes and at this point he really isn't.

again.

does the same logic not apply to Reddish?
Just curious who is playing better then Cam in your opinion and is earning those minutes?? Nas? Sharpe? Who in the small forward position is putting up the best numbers?

I agree a player needs to earn minutes, but on this roster, that could very well mean we didn't have 5 players to put on the court to be starters.

Other than Lillard, there is no talent on the Blazers roster. There is not one player who is consistently even slightly above average from night to night.

This roster never really recovered from the year Aldridge walked. We were able to put bandaids on some things and even make it to the WCF but, eventually, the bill was going to come due for bad acquisitions, bad contracts, poor drafting and poor development of young players.

If Watford and Eubanks are meaningful parts of the rotation next year, Cronin should be shown the door. Matisse played about as well as he could tonight, and it's not nearly good enough. There's more intensity in driveway one-on-one games than Reddish plays with -- it's easy to see why he can't stick anywhere.

This is just a mess. Olshey and Stotts put us in bad shape and aside from winning the No. 1 pick this year I don't see anyway this team gets out any time soon. What a mess.

I disagree with this. I agree the team is a mess but I think Watford and Eubanks can both be good bench pieces on a good team. By good I mean a well-coached team with balance. Currently, they're both being asked to do things that are out of their capability.

you keep mentioning this earning aspect. the NBA in tanking time is not a meritocracy. And Cam's bonafides aren't THAT much better than Shaedon's. It's not like he's a starter who needs 25 mpg.

we have no business trying to win right now when we don't have a single guy on this team outside of dame who gives a shit. we should be tanking and forcefeeding developmental minutes to anyone who is on contract beyond this year.

It’s his first year of basketball since high school. Patience. Kobe, Dirk, Giannis, McGrady all sucked in their first season. But the talent is obvious.

So you think Keon should be playing more? What should he get? 20 year old signed for next season, how many minutes should we be force feeding him?

If rebounding and putting up an ounce of resistance in the post is out of Eubanks capability, then he can't be a good bench piece. Watford plays hard but I think if you'd see him in a meaningful regular season team against an opponent that had something to play for you'd realize just how limited and limiting he is. Just MO.

i said this a while ago tongue in cheek, but think this idea has some legitimacy now that we've seen it for a while.

i think Chauncey plays Reddish so many minutes because Cam is also with Klutch.

sure why not. maybe we can catch orlando.

and i'm dead serious. have you seen wemby? even a miniscule improvement in our chances to land him is worth the pain of watching keon and shaedon chuck 20 times a game.

I think they're definitely playing him because he's a free agent and they want to know what they've got.

Truthfully nope haven't seem him play yet. Don't get much time to watch Basketball besides the Blazers. Obviously they are not going anywhere this year, but want to see them be as competitive as possible. I did not enjoy the talk last season.

tanking fucking sucks. i hate it.

but with the decisions this FO has made, it's our best shot. getting a meaningless win while we scratch and claw for the 11th seed is pointless.

I talk about earning the minutes, because if these guys get bad happens and think they just deserve minutes because they were high draft picks it doesn't drive them to improve. People talk about no one caring besides Dame, which I don't think, but these young guys need to learn nothing is going to be given to them. They need to scrap and work and grow to get minutes, not just be a high pick.

I don't think it is out of Eubanks's capability. The role has been inconsistent, the team is a mental cluster, and I think he would do more in a defined role, again with a good team on a mission to do something other than tank.
Watford is very young with a pretty unique skill set for a big guy and he could be a great distribution high post type of player for a second unit. He's going to get better too.

The problem is that tanking isn’t going to accomplish much. Adding a couple of good rookies is not going to get us to championship status.

I don't think it's about adding rookies.

I think it's about being able to trade a high lottery pick.

He shoots the ball pretty well from deep. He finishes around the basket well.

He's not even 20 years old yet.

This is not a good team, and yet we're running our starters out there 35+ minutes a game while letting our best young players rot on the bench. That's the worst of both worlds and you saying he needs to "earn the minutes" ahead of a bunch of guys who are not part of the future and are only part of a bad present is nonsensical.

I think it’s because Shaedon is already locked in with their long term plans. With Cam, they have a limited time to evaluate him before the end of the season.
