They were the number 1 seed last year come on man.
LAST year. They suck this year. Lakers won a championship 2 years ago. Now they are garbage. The past is in the PAST. Heat are trash. We're a contender.

Bane (ankle) will miss Monday's contest against the Jazz, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports.

The TCU product will officially miss his first game of the season as he tends to an ankle injury. John Konchar and David Roddy both emerge as candidates to receive additional opportunities. Bane's next chance to return comes Wednesday against the Trail Blazers.

so is GPII playing? that's all I want to know.

Memphis lost by 1 point to Utah on Saturday.

they should have been super motivated to beat the Jazz tonight.

Instead, they lost by 16 points.

No good. I don't like facing a good team that just got whooped, and their returning home.

They will definitely be looking to steal a road win tomorrow. Going to be another tough game, which shouldn’t be undervalued.

These early season games Vs playoff teams are big.

Has there been an update on Hart? Sure wanted him guarding Morant.

I'm pretty sure the NBA concussion protocol requires a player to be out for at least one week. If so, out for Memphis but maybe back for 1st game in Phoenix

I'm pretty sure the NBA concussion protocol requires a player to be out for at least one week. If so, out for Memphis but maybe back for 1st game in Phoenix
NBA concussion protocol:
  1. The return to participation protocol involves several steps of increasing exertion – from a stationary bike, to jogging, to agility work, to non-contact team drills.
  2. With each step, a player must be symptom free to move to the next step. If a player is not symptom free after a step, he stops until he is symptom free and begins again at the previous step of the protocol (i.e., the last step he passed without any symptoms).
  3. It’s important to note that there is no time frame to complete the protocol. Each injury and player is different and recovery time can vary in each case.
Then again...

If a player is suspected of having a concussion, they are removed from the game and cannot return until they are cleared by the league’s concussion protocol. If a player is diagnosed with a concussion, they must miss at least seven days. If a player suffers a second concussion within that same season, they must miss at least 30 days. If a player suffers three concussions within the same season, they must miss the rest of that season plus at least one additional week.
So I guess the question is was Hart actually diagnosed with a concussion, or is just precautionarily in the protocol?

so I was kind of right, and maybe wrong. I knew there was a full week involved, somehow. So yeah, it depends on if Hart had a concussion

4-3 (2-4-1) -4.5 -190 58.9%
Portland Trail Blazers
5-1 (5-1-0) 227.0 +158 41.1%

Looks like the bookies don't like our chances for winning tonight. I would take the 4 1/2 points and the blazers. Point of info the (2-4-1) is the record against the spread. So far we are 5-1 against the spread. The 227 is the over under on the total number of points scored by the two teams.

Well if that is the case then my guess is no he did not have a concussion. If he did then why would he be listed as questionable? Seems pretty cut and dried that he would be listed as "out" if he did have one.

Of course, that doesn't mean he will play tonight, just that he could.

We were 3-1 in the season series against Memphis last year, with a pretty shit team. Can we do it again this year?

I would say that every team is going to have a hard time with our D because they don't know what to expect possession to possession and we can through a lot of very live dawgs at their best players to keep them from having big games.

Our offense is potent because we have a lot of guys that can score on the perimeter and near the hoop surrounding Nurk or Eubanks who both have the ability to finish in the post, especially given the scoring and playmaking abilities of the guys that can stretch the floor.

I know Memphis will be focused for this game but that's only because they should be worried about the problems our talent and Chauncey's coaching cause just about any team. I'm just really hoping that our passing looks on point tonight against a Memphis team that works really hard to be disruptive, just like we do.

Memphis is dealing with the reality that this regular season is going to be a lot tougher for them than last regular season.
They are not going to finish with a 56-26 record, and they are definitely not going to win games just by showing up.
They shot horribly from the free-throw line in the last game in Utah, 23-42, 54.8 percent.

A relevant point in ESPN's power rankings:

How much does Memphis miss Jaren Jackson Jr., who is recovering from surgery after breaking his foot this summer? The Grizzlies rank dead last in defensive rating, allowing 119.5 points per 100 possessions. Memphis had a 106.0 defensive rating with Jackson on the floor last season, when he led the league with 2.3 blocks per game and earned first-team All-Defensive recognition.

Watched part of their second game against Utah - their defense looked worse than ours at the start of last year. If we play smart we should have no trouble scoring. Sure hope Hart gets cleared though - not having him or GPII against Morant is trouble.

It might be. It also might be really instructive to see Ant match up with him one-on-one. Last time they did, Morant went for 44 & 11, but the Blazers got the win. Would be nice to see if he could do better the second time around.
