Charmin soft.

interesting that players actually in the league have the opposite view. Day’ron sharpe called him the most physical player he went up against in his rookie season.

You woudn't say that to his face lol.

Says anonymous guy behind the screen.

Weird thing to say. I wouldn’t tell Stotts I think he’s a bad coach to his face. I wouldn’t tell Neil that he’s an orange hairdo to his face.

I’m also sure Scalma wouldn’t talk nearly as much shit to half the people on this board to their face.

Yeah just seems off to call a guy soft multiple times. Especially when he's playing on your team and anchors our defense.

Yeah, Nurk is definitely not soft. He is temperamental and that does hurt his motor on both ends from time to time. He also still loves those flip shots when he could obviously, easily dunk them. He does get too fancy/careless with his passing, which is otherwise stellar for a big man. Other than that he's great and all of those things could just clear up, even at this point in his career. Would I trade him in a heartbeat for a big that can switch onto more positions on defense and doesn't need those problems to clear up? Yeah but he has a reasonable contract and a better coach, so I'm excited to see what he can do this season.

People get frustrated with him because a lot of the time when he should just dunk it he will just toss it at the hoop.
Yeah that's frustrating but I'd be a little leary about dunking after breaking my leg. He's trying to minimize the amount of impact he puts on his joints. Can't really blame the guy. I know he did that even before the injury but it's more noticeable since the injury.

We praise when our guards or whatever choose to do a layup over a dunk to minimize injury but when Nurk does it he's "soft".

I think it has more to do with the way he’s officiated than fear of another injury. You can only be so physical in today’s NBA and since he’s bigger than pretty much everyone he goes up against, flopping works against him sadly. Probably a tough thing to balance for a big.

That’s a good point.

We need one more big 3/4. here are my top targets:

Jarred Vanderbilt
Brandon Clarke
Jonathan Isaac

What would it take to get any of these players? What would we be willing to give up?

so what are your thoughts on Watford

i think most players care whether they start. I know I would regardless of the money

Sure but doesn't winning mean more to these players than starting? Especially if they are already getting paid? Especially if they are getting the same number of minutes?

I think that depends on where they are in their careers. Ant for example is in line for a huge payday in four years. Probably still wants to maximize his value until then ie starting.

Exactly, in 4 years! I am just talking about this year. He is not going to be upset if he comes off the bench yet plays the same amount of minutes.

they'll stagger the guards keeping Hart or Payton matched with either Dame or Ant probably....Dame and Ant will start but we'll probably see staggered substitutions...when we need buckets and are playing catch up...you'll see more Dame and Ant together.

Dame and Simons will play a lot together.

It doesn't solve anything if Simons doesn't start, so he might as well start.

Yeah I think I agree. If Hart played closer to 35 mpg starting, and Ant was in the 25-30 range then maybe the defense would be improved. If Ant is going to get 35 ish mpg then no the defense won't be any different if he starts or is off the bench.

Basically the only defensive benefit is if Hart not only starts, but actually takes away some of Simons minutes.

Doesn't make sense to do on a 100 million contract. Also no way Ant would be ok with a role off the bench and lesser minutes.

I can't imagine that Memphis would give up Clarke for anything we would offer. Isaac costs too much (nobody ever talks about it, but we're close to the hard cap). I'd love it if we went after Vanderbilt.

while a definitive starting caliber 3/4 is nice to have, i think the more pressing need is at 4/5. i'm not entirely confident that trendon is ready for 20 mpg+, but he's the archetype. Good defender who has some skill as well and would not make mistakes.

Poeltl would be a dream but makes too much $ for us to get without giving up someone we value.

Not sure why Utah would give up Vanderbilt now, but his defensive numbers are awesome.

Naz Reid might bit available with the upcoming minutes crunch in Minny.

Chimezie Metu is another.

Sucks that Roco makes 12 mil, but he would have been a good target.

I'm worried about what will happen if Nurk gets hurt. We will be screwed.
