Sign Eubanks then see if you can use our exception for someone you really think can improve the team.
I agree. Eubanks is developing into a fine center. His offensive game is pretty nice, with one of the best hook shots in the game , and he's an excellent finisher at the hoop, dunks everything, hello Nurk. His defense can develop with his athleticism. Leaves the team the ability to have flexibility still.

He's a 4/5 that can shoot the three ball, block shots and play some D.
overrated in here because of his Duck affiliation. Dude is uber inconsistant. Doesn't bring it every game. Harkless motor.

Dont see anything wrong with Eubanks as a depth piece, but if were talking about a direct backup for Nurk, I'd prefer someone that could space the floor a little better so you could pair the two in certain lineups and play big. Seems like there are a couple of those guys available. But if they wanna spend the MLE on a wing then Eubanks makes sense too.

I didn't know PER is end all be all. Guess if we want to go there Hassan Whiteside is better than Nurk.

He is what he is. A 10-15ish center for the most useless position in the NBA today. He is a fine player. Not elite.

I wish he could move a little better and we had some more athleticism from that position.
I get that the center position is not featured much on offense these days, except for setting screens which is super important. But without defense and rebounding in the front court, we're toast. Give me a great defending / rebounding center and I'm a happy cat.

Anyone have an opinion (LOL) on who the top 5 are?

My favorite type of center has always been Tyson Chandler. I wish we had someone like him instead of Nurk.

My top 5 are probably Joker, Embiid (even though I can't stand him), Bam, KAT and Gobert.

Probably the most attainable but I'm less enamored by Gobert than I used to be. So is Utah it appears.

Here are what the numbers look like assuming Nurk gets 4/68 and Ant gets 4/80. Right under the tax for 12 players. With one minimum contract we can get to 13 players and be right at the tax line. That's some fine planning by Joe.

We can use the full MLE without hitting the apron. If we trade Bledsoe or take anyone into the Covington TPE, I think it's more likely we use the TPMLE. I don't really see how we can stay out of the tax if we want to make a few more moves to compete, but if we get turned down by everyone we'll be out of it.
Heard some good things about this Nicholson guy....can't wait to see him in camp.

Interesting if Nurk is going out in a sign and trade, and combined with the ~$10million MLE dollars, how much could the Blazers take back?

Probably not quite enough to get a max player in here such as Ayton. Might need to send out EBEC or Little/Winslow.

That would make sense as to why the Blazers haven't announced Nurk nor agreed to an MLE deal, they might end up hard capped after a trade and have no room to use any of it.

Updated roster with the latest news of signing Gary Payton II -

8 SG/SFs on the roster. 1 Point Guard (not counting Bledsoe), and 0 Centers (Nurkic is still unsigned). This does not look like a balanced team at the moment...

Here's my CAP estimate -

I previously assumed we would sign Jabari Walker to a full contract, but that would put the Blazers at 16 guaranteed contracts (15 max).

I also assumed the Blazers would sign a vet minimum (to fill in as a backup center?), but that also puts the Blazers over the max number of contracts.

Since Bledsoe hasn't been cut yet (latest 7/10), we have to use his full $19M number.

Since the Blazers haven't renounced the rights to Nurkic (so we retain his Bird rights), we have to use the $18M Cap hold figure.

My current numbers put the Blazers $15M over the Apron. That would mean that we could not use more than the tax-MLE, but it appears that we used a portion of the standard-MLE on Gary Payton II.

Something has to change before these signings become official....

Ya Bledsoe is going to be waived. That will bring us to something like 20 mil under the apron. And with Nurk signed we'll get right up to that threshold.

I'd just list Bledsoe for his guarantee. Blazers literally can't have amounts you list as you say it's over apron. Look forward to your next update
