Edit: And just so you know.... I had HIGH hopes with Tolliver and Mario. We had some other issues going on.... Ones that posters here have complained about, for years. I do believe that we are on our way to getting those fixed. Time will tell......

Certainly there are some people who think everything sucks, but there are tons of people who are frustrated by the team, but hopeful about certain things. I think it seems like there's more "everything sucks" fans right now because the team has been stuck on a treadmill for so long. There hasn't been much to be excited about.

He's not a rim protector, but he's a different look from Nurk that is for sure. I imagine a TON of switching and Trendon allows that.

This lineup is gonna switch everything: Ant (or Dame)/Hart/GP2/Winslow/Trendon

Also go look at backup 5s in the league. Teams are not gonna be posting up Trendon or abusing him 1:1 defensively.

Drew is also a different look. More offense than Trendon but less defense.

most second units play smaller and Watford fits as a small ball five. I doubt they’ll throw him out there at center vs bigger units. That’s probably what Eubanks is for, although I’d still sign another big.

i can see us waiting til midway thru the season before making the decision to bring in someone else.

we can go a few different routes:

1. Pay another team cash to take Didi to just duck the tax.

2. Use the Roco TPE to bring in a ~5 mil player and just take the tax hit this year.

3. Evaluate the roster a few months in, and bring in another big with the BAE or the minimum if we have a pressing need. This also is not that restrictive, because we can try to dump Didi & Keon or do an imbalanced trade at the deadline or after the season to duck the tax. I think this is what they'll do since most of these player will probably still be available in December/January.

Regardless, I just don't know why ducking the tax is a priority for this team. At most, we'd be looking at a ~10 mil payment, which is peanuts in the grand scheme of things. Maybe they want to reset the clock on the repeater and push the absurd payments to 26/27 instead of 25/26 but I really don't see this as a big deal.

I think your post is spot on. One minor correction, teams can't do a trade after the season to duck the tax, they closed that loophole. It has to be done at the trade deadline.

....and not hiding the opinion he didn't think either was a very good option, just not big enough. Look at what some of the very young Detroit bigs did to Watford. Would much rather he was at the '4'.

Oh he can DEFINITELY play, I think hes the most NBA built point guard I've seen in Europe in maybe ever, unless you wanna count Doncic as a point. And thats who I think he plays like actually. He doesn't quite have his size but is still a big point guard who is a very good playmaker in the pick and roll, and attacks the basket very well. Hes a streaky shooter, but when he gets hot hes hard to stop. I think he would be a top 15ish point guard if he played in the NBA.

We already have a backup point though, and Micic needs the ball in his hands as much as possible. Ant needs to keep developing as a primary ball handler imo, even if hes starting at SG. If we got Micic he'd never be the primary guy.

The Atlanta Hawks, for example, have seen five guys from their end-of-season roster leave via trade or free agency. They’ve been replaced by five new vets plus rookie AJ Griffin. But the Hawks aren’t at the bottom of the early continuity rankings, an honor that belongs to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Blazers have actually lost only two players from their end-of-season roster, and neither of those two guys — Eric Bledsoe and Joe Ingles — played a single minute for Portland. But the continuity rankings take all of last season’s minutes into account, and a lot of last season’s minutes were played by guys who the Blazers said goodbye to before the season was over. Robert Covington, Norman Powell, CJ McCollum and Larry Nance Jr. combined to play almost 5,000 minutes for Portland before being sent away by February.

The Blazers also have two available free agents — Ben McLemore and CJ Elleby — who played more than 1,000 minutes last season. And so Portland sits at the bottom of the rankings, with only 49% of last season’s minutes currently set to return.

Of course, if the Brooklyn Nets (currently at just 51%) trade a star or two, they would fall below Portland.
