Dame
Ant

Hart
GP2

Grant
Nassir
Winslow
Walker

Nurkic

Walker has the edge on Watford and Sharpe for me for 9th man.

He's a beautiful fit if we want roll with no true center bench lineups.

Now that we've learned a little bit about some of the Blazers' young guns, it's time to distribute minutes. Here's how I see it -

I think Hart will win the starting SF spot.

I'm making a bold prediction and saying Walker will beat out Winslow for the backup PF & SF minutes.

Tough to tell how Sharpe will fit in. For now, I've slotted him in to grab some garbage minutes at SG & SF.

Let's hope Little stays healthy and competes for some of those SF & SG minutes.

I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with Watford's development. Johnson, not so much. Brown, meh.

I'm excited about this coming year!
Wow thanks for the graphic, makes it much easier to visualize.

I think 16mpg for Little would be a really tough sell, he’s also going into a prove-it year. I think it’s more likely that Watford and Walker split around 30mpg and Nas gets around 25 all at SF.

With Walker’s emergence, I’m more comfortable with Sharpe sitting the bench this year. It’s almost like what happened with Ant and Gary, but a season earlier. I would hope that considering blowouts, he averages out to north of 10mpg over 40 games.

Interested to see Watford at C. Nothing I ever considered before.

Simons is going to get over 30mpgs.

Your not going to have 13 guys getting minutes every game, it'll be 9 or 10. So total if looking at 13 players would be over 48 mpg at each position. Unfortunately will have games missed or injuries too, that is when depth chart 10-13 players get minutes.

Keon and Sharpe won't both play under 10mpg in the same game.

Little would be more likely to play PF than SG, IMO. I don't see him playing any SG with all our other guards.

Eubanks or Watford gets backup C minutes, not both.

Here's my rotation:

PG - Dame (32) Ant (16)
SG - Ant (18) GP2 (25) Hart (5)
Hart (25) Little (13) Sharpe (10)
Grant (32) Little (5) Winslow (11)
Nurk (28) Watford/Eubanks (20)

Dame 32 minutes (PG)
Ant 34 minutes (SG/PG)
Hart 30 minutes (SF/SG)
Grant 32 minutes (PF)
Nurk 28 minutes (C)
GP2 25 minutes (SG)
Little 18 minutes (SF/PF)
Winslow 11 minutes (PF)
Sharpe 10 minutes (SF)
Watford/Eubanks 20 minutes (C) depending on the team we're facing.

That's a 10-11 man rotation at the start of the season. I feel bad giving Winslow only 11 minutes, but we really need to give Little and Sharpe some minutes, and that's where I would primarily see him competing for time. If Sharpe isn't ready to see the court, or Little is injured, I could see Winslow getting more minutes. I'm also not sure what to do with Walker. I think he's ready to see the floor right away. I actually think he could supplant Winslow.

We have a lot of young guys, and realistically I think we need a consolidation trade at some point.

Hart (25) Little (13) Sharpe (10)

Dame 32 minutes (PG)
Ant 34 minutes (SG/PG)
Hart 30 minutes (SF/SG)
Grant 32 minutes (PF)
Nurk 28 minutes (C)
GP2 25 minutes (SG)
Little 18 minutes (SF/PF)
Winslow 11 minutes (PF)

I believe the #7 pick in the draft will get more than 10 mpg. Chauncey knows the only way to get him going to is give him pt. I see hi getting at least 15 mpg spitting tine at 2/3.

Man, I honestly don't think that kid will even see the court. You really think he'll play 15 a game?

This is start of the season. I don't think they toss him in for more than maybe 10 minutes a night.

Honestly, I'll be surprised if we don't see a trade before the deadline.

I get the feeling Chauncey will get him as many minutes as possible to bring him along in quick fashion. Just a wild ass guess.

Hey you may be right, I don't have any inside info....I'm just of the mind that we are in a WIN NOW mode for Dame. I think the vets on this roster are going to play a TON! Especially after last season.

I agree about a trade.

Good point, the Kid is super talented and may earn some consistent pt?

I think it depends a lot on how some of the young guys are doing, and our health obviously, but I could see us moving Keon/Winslow and maybe even Hart at the deadline. I really like Hart, and I like Keon, but I don't think we'll have money for Hart and I don't think we have minutes for Keon. It's gonna suck if Sharpe busts and we trade Keon and he pops.

I say it all the time. The draft is an absolute crapshoot. That's why I never read the draft threads on here with peoples opinions on players. Nobody knows. You know how many super athletic high school all americans" have rolled though here? I'm hoping this kid pans out of course, but to expect a kid basically straight out of HS to come help a team in a win now mode, just don't see it.
Once again though, I have horribly low expectations of him, so if he does ANYTHING, I'm impressed. The guys on here who had him pegged as a first team summer league selection because he was the #7 pick are already bummed.

Surprised if there isn’t a trade? AGREE.

I hope there’s a trade or two — for a big and a (bigger) small forward. [Especially with the contracts of Hart and Little as the next up]

And Winslow. I think it's unlikely that we keep him and I'd rather get something of value.

Yup. Absolutely. Of the smaller contracts, Winslow’s at just over $4 million traded alone for a back-up big … part of a package to get the numbers right … gone in trade to bring in 2-3 minimum deals given the hard cap. His and Josh Hart’s contracts are in a sweet spot.

I think Walker and Watford are going to make Winslow redundant.

I'm hoping that Sharpe makes Hart redundant.
I like big lineups. Walker, Winslow, and Watford can play together.

Plus, Winslow is only 26 years old.

I get it, but there's only 48 minutes per position and we have a lot of young guys that need minutes. I think Little and possibly Walker and Watford could see minutes at power forward. At some point you have to ask if Winslow is part of the future of this team, and I just really don't think he is. I could be wrong though.

Maybe they should send him to the G league to get playing time?

speaking of which, can we please invest in a team now?

The only other franchise that doesn't have an affiliate is Phoenix, and they have the cheapest owner in sports. Can we not reinforce my moniker of "poverty franchise" any longer?

Sharpe — and the Blazers — need the reality check of Sharpe on the court AFTER the season has begun. Development is key and practice will only do so much. The GLeague would offer skills work for most rookies on a nightly basis, but with the mystery for both team AND player, demystify it. Not forced minutes or a rotation spot inked in. He has to play some minutes this year.

Just curious on your thought on when Anfernee was coming up through the organization. Did you see a spark that he could be legit? Same with GTJr, CJ, etc. You see these guys more than anyone else here. Can you spot that "it" factor in some right away?

Most of the time @THE HCP sees these guys is when they come into the bathroom he’s cleaning. I don’t want to hear about him seeing their ‘spark’ in there.
