So we have to fit Walker and Nurk into about 16.49 mil to be under the apron. That also allows us to sign a backup C for the BAE, which we might as well do since we're already hard-capped.

Blazers could stretch EBEC, trade EBEC to a team with cap space with maybe second round pick or such, trade Little, trade Winslow.

Unless its a clearly superior player for BAE I'd just fill that spot with a vet minimum. Vet minimums don't count for the entire portion against the cap/tax. Also lets the Blazers use this next year. Even if everything fits now, be nice to have some room to sign players for in season injuries or buy out guys.

i dont want to stretch that Bledsoe deal. We're dealing with the repercussions of the Nicholson stretch still. Don't keep any deadcap for next year.

i question your bball knowledge

I am certainly no statatician, but if you take a deeper dive into their comparable production then you should find similar conclusions. Heck, I'm sure some of our resident stat gurus could argue MitRob is better. So yeah, they in the same relative range. Maybe Nurk gets a little bit more because of his seniority, but not $20M more :dunno:

Gallinari to Boston is interesting. He'd add some much needed reliable shooting at the big positions, but he would also really jeopardize their flying around, switchable defense.

I'd curious to watch how that plays out.

I think you can slot Walker in for the minimum. The advantage of using cap space or MLE to sign him is the team isn't limited to the minimum contract exception. The Blazers can sign him for 3-4 years, last couple non guaranteed, and make him a restricted free agent afterwards. Walker doesn't really have the leverage to push for anything besides the minimum.

why the hell do they need ANOTHER 6'9 forward. good lord, they hoard wings like we do guards

Smart by them. Much easier to get value back in a trade sending out a wing and receiving a guard/center than the other way around.

Meanwhile we acquire only guards and wonder why we haven't been able to trade for a decent forward in a decade.

Or are they replacing them with the young guys they have on the roster? If any of their young guys pop, they might be better...

Yeah its possible they are just as good as last year or better. But losing two key bench guys certainly hurts them. They had enough minutes to get their young guys more even if they kept everyone.

Doesn't matter, they have a license to go over the Cap by 200 mil.

It does matter since they lost the two players.... They don't have any way to spend more money on the cap right now except for the tax MLE.

makes you wonder why contending phoenix suns dont want to give him max contract

they obviously think they can contend without ayton and with some other center how will earn much less

I don't wonder. They're cheap. They're also not entirely out of their mind to think putting that many resources in a center is a bad idea. Well, guess you shouldn't have drafted a center with the #1 pick then, huh?

If the Blazers have a chance at getting Ayton for only Nurk and Hart, you take it and run. He's a massive upgrade with potential to get much better at his age.

Like when we paid Meyers, AC, and ET?

Value means different things to different people. A team with no guards would be willing to pay more money for a guard. A team with tons of guards.... you would think.... would pay less money for a guard.

In the case of GP2, we lack defense, so we overpaid for a quality defender. It's all about value.

There's value around the league and there's value to individual teams. Those don't always align. A guy like Dame or CJ or now Ant, are worth more to Portland than they might be to other teams because we can't get star free agents. So we overpay to keep our guys because we know we can't go out and replace them.

if im not wrong, zach lavine is the first klutch client to sign in free agency

nurks deal could be coming very soon...
