That sucks cause no one is going to do other deals with us if everyone is waiting to try and get Dame.
Yeah I can see this being a real blocker - especially with the Nets previously in the 3 for Bridges idea and even now in an Ant for Cam Johnson deal.

Maybe we could try to talk the Nets into the idea if they take on Ant we would want him back if we pivot to trading Dame, so it would actually increase their chance of getting Dame. That seems like the type of tactic some good GM's would use but I'm not sure Cronin has those abilities.

I listened to Fischer again, and he said a lot of teams were waiting on Dame to make his decision, he's the first domino to fall.

Then thinking about the tweet that account said about Dame making up his mind. I think it was less about whether something would happen soon with Dame and more about how other moves from other teams are all dependent on what happens with Dame.

Same thing happened with Durant last offseason.

If it plays out like Durant, they're going to be waiting many months to start free agency!

Dame appears to be waiting to see what Portland does, so unless the entire league is going to pause while Portland picks their best option, I don't think Dame will be the one starting free agency.

Barnes at $18M each or Grant at $30M each....

I know which one I'd rather have.
I feel like your implying it's obvious one is worth way more, but I'm not certain which.

Barnes has been on the decline and will be 34 on his last season. He's more of a 4th/5th option. Grant is more of a 3rd option. Neither deal is a good contract. I'd probably lean towards the Barnes deal being better but could easily see it being viewed as the opposite next season.

ok, I'm having a hard time believing that Pat Riley is running some Machiavellian rope-a-dope on Dame and the Blazers. If it's actually true that the Heat has shifted attention to Kyrie, and maybe Harden, the simple answer is

) they have found out, somehow, that Dame is not a realistic target. And the simple part of that is that Dame is not willing to be traded yet or is even signaling he won't be on the market for a while, if ever

) the next simplest is that Cronin has flat-out told Miami their offer won't be good enough. But that would imply they are having conversations about Dame and I really doubt Cronin is engaging in any detailed talks at this point with any team about Dame trades; or that he'd shut down discussions with any team if he was

as I said earlier in this thread, any GM of another team who tries and run a game on Dame and manipulate him will likely only succeed in pissing Dame off.

The other option is that Miami is trying to acquire Harden or Kyrie on an expiring and if a Dame trade later is available Portland would prefer to take those contracts back instead of the Herro/Duncan multi year deals.

Is there any indication Miami is looking at Kyrie besides that random account that has no credibility?

possible, but then that would certainly imply Miami knows Dame won't be available for quite a while

Possibly. Although I don't think there is any off-season restriction on how long they need to wait to trade them as salaries likely match 1 to 1.

how much do you want to bet... Cronin doesn't do a damn thing of significance this week, then say 'we are waiting for trades to open up later in the offseason.' Then the season will start, and he will kick the can down the road again til next deadline.

Forget "sell low Joe." it's "not now Joe."

Can't believe he fooled y'all.

"it's time for us to start winning basketball games." Lying out of his teeth.

Garland will be a Blazer cause we need another small guard -- You know when Cronin saw this he was like -- we trading Sharpe , Nurk and 3 - 1st's just so we can get another guard. -- LOL

Jaxson Hayes is slow. His range is only 2 feet. Blazers already have a few of these players.
