How about starting an impressive rebuild while keeping the superstar around just in case and then once it was determined there was not a path forward, getting the superstar to force their way out? Not saying it's a great contract (or even a good one)...and hyperbole aside, it's not the worst the team has signed in the last 15 years.

Grant plays the hardest position to find in the league: 2-way wing, and he's above average on both sides! Yes the per year dollars is a lot but who gives a shit? We're tanking.

I think it is movable. We may not get more than expirings, or a late first, or some seconds back, but there will be teams that are competing that will be looking for this archetype of players midseason. Lakers would have traded Bamba/Beasley/1st for Grant, for example.

He was ranked on most lists that I saw as the second best free agent behind Kyrie. It was a horrible class. Have to pay to retain that kind of talent. He's only 29, but I'm a little shocked that people aren't putting much value on keeping some veterans. Grant and Thybulle are both solid veterans who play defense. We will need that kind of influence on our EXTREMELY young team.



Dame will be gone. I'm going to assume that Nurk and Winslow will be gone. We just have very little experience on this team. Not sure who we might be adding to the roster this offseason, but I don't think we will be replacing Dame with an equally experienced player.
