glad I read this thread....don't know why but for some reason I was thinking the lottery was a 5:30PM today

Some early on line articles reported it as 5:30 for some reason. I'm glad I saw this as well or I would have missed it.

The the 14th pick is a lock or they don't get it at all.

If GSW wins in the lotto (picks 1-4), they keep the pick and Portland gets their '25 pick (top 1 protected) instead.

Otherwise, yes - Portland gets #14

Us at 8th and Warriors at #1 is probably the worst outcome. They could likely trade #1 for someone that pushes them into the playoffs next year and we get a mid 20s pick.

8th pick in a week draft when only two teams had more losses is beyond sad.

The NFL has a quick path to relevance via the draft, build, get THAT stud draftee QB then spend on his 1st contract.

The NBA path to relevance — for a team like Portland — is the tank and trading off the $$$ veterans who don’t fit or are iffy on the timeline. Get some luck, hit it 2-3 years in a row and mature. What is interesting this time is all the Blazers bench guys — Reath, Murray, Walker, Camara, Rupert, Banton, Time Lord — and seeing what long-term roles they can fill over the next 2-3 years onto their 2nd Blazers contract.
