Bronny James entering the draft. Blazers can take him in the 2nd round. Remember we love guards so it’s perfect.
He is keeping his amateur status and entering the portal as well. I think he's going to gauge things in the NBA, realize he isn't getting any promises early enough that he'll transfer somewhere he thinks will elevate his draft stock for next year. Just an assumption from me though.

i really like dalton more and more. usually hate drafting older dudes in the lotto, and wish he was a few inches taller, but i think his scoring will translate.

ideally, he's still there for our 2nd pick, and we can swing a bit more with our own pick, but if we drop to 7 or 8, i might just suck it up and take knecht.

I'd be happy with Salaun, Knecht or Clingan with the second pick. They have a couple second rounders to use to move up and get their guy.

Still expect them to trade one of their firsts and seconds, but am increasingly ambivalent about all of these guys. I’ll be onboard within 2 minutes of pretty much any non-guard, non-stiff pick.

That would be a huge mistake. They need as many shots at a high upside guy as possible. Trading the pick for a role guy is pointless.

I think many are going to look like fools for passing on Edey. College players are athletic as well. And you don't need to be athletic when you're 7'4.

If 30 year old Shaq were in the draft you could make the same argument, "Only take him in the 2nd round because he can't shoot or guard the perimeter." Yeah, but he could dominate inside.

prepare for disappointment. Not sure about your role guy prediction/editorialization.

The problem is that he can’t go on the perimeter and guard anyone. Which is almost a must in today’s NBA even for the Center position.

He might be okay for spot minutes. But he’ll get exposed in a game real quick. Opposing teams will switch up on him all day and he’ll be in no man’s land. It’s a different NBA than from even 5 years ago. Teams prefer small ball units.

I always prepare for disappointment with this organization. Not sure what you mean?
If you’re expecting them to make both selections, I wouldn’t hold your breath. They might use the GSW pick to secure a future first in draft night, or if they don’t move up, they might use it to move up and get the guy they want.

they’re going to have a ton of development players in the roster next year.

The scenario where they keep both is where they’ve traded 1+ vets into space and/or moved along from one the young guys.

Magic is going to happen on draft day. I just know it.
Is "Magic" Johnson w

Blazers need as much talent as they can get, even if it's a weak draft there will be many good players from this draft, do we believe in Cronin and especially Mike Schmidt?

What I oppose is trading the GS for a veteran role player. OKC could have said we drafted Chet and Ousmane, we don't need a third rookie in Jalen Williams...

A bunch of mid and lower tier guys. I'm not moving the pick because I have Kris Murray, Rupert, or Bari Walker. That's silly.

Using their pick and the GS pick to get Sarr? I'm good with that. Nobody else warrants that value.

No one is saying that’s going to happen, so I think you’re good there. I’m not sure where you’re getting that from.

That’s fine, I’m probably lower on some of those guys than you are—I’m literally telling you what is being reported—according to the Marang guy, they are probably going to move that pick, and not necessarily for a “veteran role player” or however you put it.

do we think they’re going to roster that many young players?

I believe in Schmitz as a great draft talent evaluator... I think Shaedon was a helluva pick. Bari is an insane value at the second to last pick of the draft. Everyone thought Scoot was the sure fire third pick and it allowed Cronin to push Dame out and although I don't like that, I think it was what Cronin wanted. The guys drafted around Kris especially after him haven't looked too great and I like everything Kris does besides miss wide open threes. Rayan seems to be a great high risk high reward prospect.

As far as Mike Schmidt goes, I believe that he's arguably the greatest third baseman in baseball history.

There's actually been some talk that it IS going to happen... BlazersUprise.

Small sample size. There's no one better than Sam Presti to do it though. We need bonafide STARS. Role players are easy to find. I like Mike but we need to see what Shaedon and Scoot become. There's a perfectly legitimate argument that can be had that Jalen Williams should have been drafted instead of Shae or Amen instead of Scoot. We won't know for a couple more years...

Oh they have INSIDE sources? Wow.

Two separate sources are saying the same thing in that they want to move the pick which is absolutely stupid unless they're packaging it with their own to get Sarr. Do you give Ant plus 13 for Franz? Not sure Orlando even does that. Likely not. I don't see a lot of good options for moving that pick.
