Ouch! Big game from Shaedon.

Black slapped Jrue across the arms on that final turnover. Bane came up big for them.

That should have been a win or OT. Sucks to have it go down that way.

At least Shaedon had a strong game. I think they kinda got high on their own supply after the Nuggets and Thunder games.

2 lost against winnable game - ouch

At least every loss so far has been winnable.

Well, that Laker game is am embarrassing loss, so 4 winnable games and 1 embarrassing loss.

Actually, I'd say the Heat game was borderline embarrassing too.

It is what it is though.

Makes it worse

i was expecting 3 straight win then lose to Houston and Dallas but who knows, maybe we get the 3 straight win in the back end

0-2 to start this trip. Miami missing its top three and Orlando on second night of back to back. Games likes this have to be wins.

Here are the Blazers who were unavailable for these two games:
Scoot
Dame
Wesley
Matisse

That's why Cidy and Duop got minutes, and why late-30s Jrue is playing so many minutes

Just a few random thoughts:

-- Toumani hasn't been anything close to the player he was last year. He's not the defender, but, worse, he's been such a net-negative player on offense that it diminishes his net-positive on the defensive end.
-- That turnover on the inbound at the end of the game wasn't all on Jrue. It either was poorly designed or poorly executed in terms of getting someone open. But what caused the turnover was that Shaedon's defender was in a position to help out after passing the ball in bounds. The spacing was terrible. If that doesn't happen, Holiday wouldn't have turned it over.
-- It's not a good thing for any team when Jeremi Grant thinks he has carte blanche. If he thinks you have to play him, it becomes all him and the ball stops moving and it just isn't good for chemistry. Plus, I don't think he works as hard. We had the game cut to 2, gave up a dunk, and then Jerami got to the rim and instead of just scoring you can hear him yell "and 1" as he threw a crazy shot over his shoulder. He's just not a team player. I hope he plays well enough that some fool team trades a first for him at the trade deadline.
-- Scrap the zone. It's awful.
-- That said, there might not be a worse team in the league right now when it comes to defending the dribble drive. Other than Jrue, no one makes any good effort to keep dribblers from getting two feet in the paint.
-- This is the kind of game Shaedon needs to play. He needs to use his midrange and attack of the rim to set up his 3, not the other way around. He needs to think of SGA, not Booker as his playing comp. And he needs to train better.
-- Clingan would be as effective playing with those clubs on both hands that you sometimes see football players wear when they break their wrist as he is with two regular hands.
-- That last turnover aside, Jrue reminds me of Andre Miller in so many ways. He's so crafty, and nothing speeds him up. But Jrue is better in every possible way. Better shooter. Better defender. Just great all-around player.
-- I'm not a Caleb Love fan, but why is he on the team if not for situations like this when two PGs are hurt and you might need someone else that can initiate the offense and give guys 3-4 minutes of a breather?

Anyway, bad loss. Probably not bad in the big picture, because this is a great draft class and if the Blazers are in the lottery they have a chance to add a real difference-maker, and one that won't take long to become a difference-maker. However, it's annoying to lose when you should win, and this was a game that we should have won.

I guess Clingan will be the new whipping boy

* Blazers won a couple of close games at home; it's tougher on the road. Close games are a coin toss anyway

* Sharpe finally had a good game. I think it was because he was in dribble-drive mode, and letting that set up his perimeter shooting, rather than tryingthe other way

* 36 minutes tonight is too much for Jrue. I think he had three 4th Q turnovers. He averaging more minutes this season than he has in the previous 5 seasons. He was 29 when he averaged more minutes
