Game Thread 4/16/17 Game 3 Montreal Canadiens vs New York Rangers

I simply cannot explain it. Is the crowd not into it enough and it deflates the team? Do the players think the emotion of the crowd will carry them so they don't get as hyped up to play at home? Do they try and be more East/West at home instead of North/South? Is this home thing so in their heads now that it is throwing them off?

I just do not get it, but it is more about the Rangers when we have seen it against TB, the Pens, and now one period against the Habs. Different teams but same lackluster home effort.

Compare that period and that effort to what we saw the first 5 + periods of this series...no comparison. D much crisper with passes. Much harder on the puck. Much more speed and passion. Don't understand.

That doesn't make sense to me because they have that effort on the road. So what is the difference? I don't have the answer, but it is a clear issue.

Anyway...onto to the 2nd. Wake up and play with some passion...please.

I think they just feel inherently more pressure at home, whereas on the road they bond together more as a percieved underdog. Home ice is almost nil in the nhl except maybe in a game 7. When you feel you 'should' win at home that's when problems start.

LOL...I feel bad for those people who paid so much money to see them play in the last 5 games in the playoffs.

double shift the 4th line. At least they have a heartbeat

They legit have 3 players at the blue line in the offensive zone. What the fuck.

Completely being dominated at home in a playoff game. Just doesn't make sense.

Hank deserves better than what this team has given him year after year.

finally messiah decided to grace the game thread. I guess he is happy with the performance so far.

Big difference is our guys are reaching for the puck and not rushing to it while Montreal is fighting for every loose puck and trying to get every puck.

Was actually spending Easter with family. I missed the part where the Rangers were trailing the series 2-0 and the game 5-0. But sure lets fire and trade everybody.

To be fair, the Rangers have been MASSIVELY outplayed tonight.

This is a total shitshow. This team plays with no emotion at home under this coach and its been that way for a few years now. How could this fucking team be so lifeless at home??

Step is a troll. Prod pegged him correctly in the previous game thread. The same repeated posts since game one.

That goal was a perfect trio.

1. We get 2 PP's in the 1st and don't get a sniff.
2. Miller takes a ridiculously dumb penalty (that is why AV moves him down).
3. Stepan gets beat on the draw clean as can be, which cannot happen.

The sad part is I am now crossing into don't care territory. This team simply plays soft, passive, passionless hockey at home in the playoffs. 93, 20, 13 are they even playing?

I used to go to many NYR home playoff games, and I don't anymore. This is why. 19-3 last 6 home playoff games...3 goals in 17 periods at home...WOW.

Wow 3 goals on home ice the past 17 playoff periods. WTF. Lots of forwards no show through 2 periods. I don't get it.

You tell me how the Rangers are playing in this game.

Face-offs - 25-12 Montreal.

Rangers have 12..12...12 shots through two periods...12. I could be the Habs goalie tonight and have a shutout.

Ridiculous.

It doesn't surprise me against a very good defensive team like Montreal. The Rangers have people who can score goals but they don't have the sniper or two others have and that they need.

No one gets it Disturbed. Team plays with nothing on home ice. The 4th line cannot score, Glass' game 1 goal notwithstanding, but at least they get it in deep and hit and fore check. Might as well play the more, only line that plays with passion at home.

I would think of putting Buchnevich in game 4. Take out Fast or Glass.

They do have "snipers" the problem is they don't have anyone willing to get to the net and get the dirty rebound goal.
