Being the youngest I was introduced to it very early. I'd have to say early 60s so 7-8 years old.

Actually in those days, 50s-60s, most States didn't even have Kindergarten. It was not Mandatory if there was one in your town/city. While Pre-School just Did NOT exist at all.

I lucked out, went to a private Kindergarten, since they were not required back then, every Kindergarten was a Private one.

I got my 1st ever hammer, little hand held jig saw, a pair of pliers, and built my own wooden tool box. 1st one I ever had, at 5 years of age. Not only constantly living under B-52 AC Flight patterns, at McConnell, Barksdale, and Castle SAC AFB's; EAFB, has been the best of 'em all. When a B-52, XB-70, or SR-71, then the we would drop what we were doing to see those Monstrosities, during approaches, and take offs, I think I went thru life then and now, with my head pointed to the clouds.

I also drew up my own Engineering Drawing on that project, my very 1st Oblique Drawing, with no not a crayon.
 
Ah yeah the obliques, now just a memory surrounded by fat. Life's a bitch.
 
Remember that day well, heard bits and pieces during the day, got more detail from American Bandstand after. The Bopper was OK but as I've posted here before Holly was a duty badass with music, liked his writing, singing and the man could flat out smoke a strat rhythm wise. I was hooked on Valens as well, Donna, La Bamba, Come On Let's Go, would have loved to seen how far they could have gone with longer lifespans.

I agree Michael & the loss of Holly was probably the greatest among the 3, I mean he was only about 23 & already had about a dozen hits under his belt. And lets not forget that Dion Dimucchi was originally suppose to be on that flight but didn't have the money (I believe that was the reason) & switched with (I believe) Richie Valens.
 
Dion had some pretty serious issues with heroin and it's been said that he didn't make that trip is so he could resupply his habit. I did like Dion as a solo act and with the Belmonts as well. Street corner singing in the Northern Cites then hitting the subways for reverb saw some good talent evolve.

a Oblique is a muscle indeed, but an Oblique Drawing is a 2 or 3 dimensional drawing, like a blue print.

Of course I wouldn't know this but I hear that happens a lot with old people.
