Pau Gasol has agreed (in principle) to an extension that could be finalized next week. And they also said (according to the LA Times) that "Kobe is having positive discussions with the team about extending as well."

Are the Blazers negotiating an extension with Joel? That's a huge concern, especially in light of GO's injury, that he'll opt out and walk. Why not lock him up? It's not like we are going to trade him. For what? We'd be way too thin in the front court without him. Has anybody heard any update on this?

I'm guessing Joel will get a nice paycheck from the Blazers and that Greg will not get a nice paycheck because of his injuries.

Extending anything less than superstar players is a bad idea, IMO, unless you can get a very good value.

I don't think that extending Joel should be a priority for the team. If he doesn't sign an extension, we will still be in the driver's seat to re-sign him. If he gets hurt after we extend him, it'd be a bad thing.

Nah, Shaq will be our backup C next year.
