It certainly sounded like you were touting NRA shit. Anyway...

Denny... You're not reading the entire article... Or frankly law.
The two links I gave you, along with the link you just grabbed off of politifact says what I said...
They're not banned.

One law in 1935 all but banned automatic weapons like the Tommy gun. And another in 1986 prohibited fully automatic weapons, except for pre-existing weapons that were grandfathered in.
I don't know how to do fancy small screen shots like you so I'll quote directly from your article, and bold the necessary line.
Now I could go back and do the same for the links I posted but at the end of the day AR's aren't completely banned from the US.
It would take you 9months & 15k-40k to get one, but you could still get it. 31 years old and counting, but you can still get your hands on it.

Its hard though. Some people don't show any signs. This dude apparently didnt show any
And you're right. Like I said we can't prevent every one of these but what we can do is educate people more in signs of certain mental disorders that lead to violence.

This is the WORST MASS MURDER SHOOTING IN THE HISTORY OF OUR CONTRY! Happened 12 hours ago and we have 55 posts on here........ are we numb to this? Is there nothing more to say?

Nope, nothing more to say.

If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results then the country is insane and it will be insane tomorrow.

I'm not, it's just kinda pathetic you bring trump into this tragedy. No politics should e brought into this. This was a crazy man who committed a terrorist act and people like you try to make it about gun control. Okay sure yeah forget mental health
Did you just type "PEOPLE LIKE ME"? DID YOU?
Do you know "PEOPLE LIKE ME" have actually seen people get shot and killed right in front of them. In high school BEFORE I was in the Gulf war TWICE actually! So, "PEOPLE LIKE ME" I believe have the right to state how they feel when it comes to people being slaughtered by machine gun fire. Kid I was having bullets graze by me when you were still getting your ass wiped.

Check yourself before you start telling people who actually HAVE knowledge of the topic, what they SHOULD and SHOULDN'T be posting.

Acting like you know everything. Try living life a bit before you come at me again. Holler at me if you want to continue this conversation.

Also from your article.
Our rating

In the wake of the mass shooting in Orlando, in which the killer used a semiautomatic rifle was used, Johnson stated: "Assault rifles already are banned."

Some, including Johnson, contend that only weapons that are automatic — firing continuously when the trigger is held down are assault weapons — are assault weapons. Those are essentially prohibited by federal laws. But that definition is narrow, and Johnson’s claim gives a misleading impression of a comprehensive ban.

Lawmakers, law enforcement officials and others widely refer to many semiautomatic weapons like the rifle used in Orlando and other mass shootings — which reload automatically but fire only once each time the trigger is depressed — as assault weapons. Those are not banned by federal law.

For a statement that has an element of truth but ignores critical facts that would give a different impression, our rating is Mostly False.

It was one hour and 12 minutes from the time the first shot was reported until the police broke into the guy's room.

I'd have to have you provide a LINK for this foolishness.
You want me to give you peoples phone numbers?

Also, people might find me racist if I just start taking pictures of them at the next Blake Shelton concert.

But I was there, and there were people of different colors attending.

Mostly white, sure, but we live in one of the whitest big cities.

I just broke one of my rules by getting into it on this OT page. Don't usually.

Messing with you man. I think Denny is just saying there is a certain demographic that might be at this show is all.

You're confusing semi-automatic rifles with fully-automatic rifles (AKA machine guns).

An AR -15 is not a machine gun. An M16 is not a machine gun. They're not fully automatic. You have to fully pull the trigger every time you want to shoot the gun. With a machine gun, you only have to pull the trigger once and hold it down to fully empty the magazine.

Machine guns were banned a long time ago. People still own them but they're extremely hard to get and very expensive. The shooter most likely did not have a machine gun. The rate of fire was too inconsistent. People are saying he was most likely "bump firing" or using a crank system which speeds up the rate of fire, but also makes the gun extremely inaccurate. Although, you don't really have to be accurate when you're shooting down into 20k people.

This is the deadliest mass shoiting in United States history, there has to be some recourse. After horrible events like this, like the florida night club, and all the shootings before, we ask ourselves how do we stop this from happening again? What can be done? The truth is sadly, not much will come of this. We could put in place stricter gun laws, but it won't happen. There are too many against it, afraid that 2nd ammendment rights will be taken away.

You mean, their are too many gun lobbyists against it. The polls show that a majority of Americans are for, at the least, sensible guns laws. And yet no new gun laws get past because gun lobbyist have too many of our politicians in congress in their pocket.

We could ensure better treatment for mental healthcare. That probably won't happen either. Insurance companies don't want to have yo pay for it. There is a sad truth to this all, America and the world is in a fucked up state. This shooting will be dwelled on, then people will go back to living their lives, then the next one will happen. What can be done?

Stop voting for our corrupt duopoly of Democrats and Republicans. Their corruption is way out of hand.

It all boils down to corruption. Take corruption out of the equation and we would have a congress that works. Maybe not perfectly, of course. But it would be much better that this cluster fuck we have now. Only then will congress work for the people and pass sensible laws that polls show that the people of America would like to see pass.

This isn't some competition. I never questioned you on that. However you come in talking about trump, immediately bringing politics into it. What does his dumbass have to do with the shooting? Nothing. Let me guess though, on the personal insults you are obviously joking right since that's just what you're known for and they let you get away with "joking" around here. Looks like you got mad, not me. I just think it's stupid your first post on the subject you immediately bring politics into it.

Oh never mind you got your little post edited.

Sigh, thanks denny. I guess I'll just quote my post from page 2 again.
Kinda looks like I'm not the one confused.
I really don't like repeating myself.

First off if you read my post I clearly said, wait let me quote it for you.

I don't really see why you missed that. But I'm glad you told me it didn't stop him from getting a AR.

Also the Bill which was passed when I was less than 5 years old had a 10 year expiration date.
Secondly April 17 2013 the AWB failed on the senate floor 40-60.
Also you or I could purchase a m16.

Unless you know of a specific bill I don't... I don't know of a AWB.

Shocker that article was wrote 3 hours ago. lol...

I edited out the personal insult. So not sure what you think I'm letting him get away with.

I just broke one of my rules by getting into it on this OT page. Don't usually.
Well, we have to look at this entirely different than even how it affects today's world.

Eventually the consensus will be that people can't have these weapons. Not old ones, not ones you convert yourself.

That future is coming. How do we get there? How do you confiscate 500 million guns? (I have no idea of the real numbers)

It is going to change, the question is when.

I love when people start an argument about gun control and then refer to an assault rifle as a "machine gun" or whatever else it is. Forget mental illness it was the guns fault. Forks! Forks and spoons are killing the fat people! Get the cars too! So many accidents a year!

I don't know enough about guns, but how big are the magazines on these automatic guns? To kill 50+ and injure another couple hundred (plus) seems like a really big magazine. Like 250 rounds.

You can shoot THREE rounds for every trigger pull on an m-16......automatic....semiautomatic.......call it whatever you want. That's fucking dangerous and you can go thru a full clip in 3-4 seconds. Very unnecessary if you ask me.

Watching the video it sounded like he had an attachment on that weapon. Shit sounded like a gatling gun but wasn't of course

Sounds like we both have had first hand experience with someone having a psychotic break. I am of the opinion that no amount of education is going to change the outcome.

With the situation at hand, what we do know is that this was not a break. This guy had been a resident of the casino from Sept 28th. He planned before hand to get a room that had a tactical advantage. He Planned to be able to maximize the carnage he could create.

In May this year, ISIS sent out a call to its believers to do an attack of this kind in Los Vegas. The instructions and recommendations mirror what was done last night.

It has been reported that this guy recently converted to Islam a few months ago.

So, in short, was this guy crazy? In my opinion , yeah. What amount of education would have made any difference?

They don't need to be big magazines. Also, the guy supposedly had 10 guns with him.

But if the guy practiced enough, he could have been able to do this.
