They're not banned.
I don't know how to do fancy small screen shots like you so I'll quote directly from your article, and bold the necessary line.One law in 1935 all but banned automatic weapons like the Tommy gun. And another in 1986 prohibited fully automatic weapons, except for pre-existing weapons that were grandfathered in.
Now I could go back and do the same for the links I posted but at the end of the day AR's aren't completely banned from the US.
It would take you 9months & 15k-40k to get one, but you could still get it. 31 years old and counting, but you can still get your hands on it.
