You could of course put in more US soldiers to have an outer perimeter, but that just means they get blown up there instead of at the airport gate. Plus you might have to fight the Taliban to do that.

You could hire Erik Prince's mercenary army, I suppose?

Technically Hoopguru is correct, you could make the surrounding area around the airport into a Green Zone.
Practically speaking, I think you are correct. A Green Zone would be a monumental task and then you'd have to have everyone strip down naked before entering and give up their clothing and belongings before entering the entry points.

Proud Boys applauded their taking back their country for religion and executing opponents. (very American) Congressman Matt Gaetz called Taliban more legitimate than current US government (since Trump actually won 2020 election) Tucker Carlson praised them for embracing masculinity and patriarchy, adding that women like that.

There was an American woman service member who died in that God Damned bomb blast. Yes, she's a hero in my eyes. She was risking her life doing her job in the middle of an extremely dangerous situation and God Bless her for that.

When I was in a war no women in the military or not were allowed anywhere near combat activity. Now women are doing what men service members do. That brave woman saved some man's life by voluntarily taking his place.

Lindsey Graham demanded to know who made the decision to withdraw the troops and said Biden should be impeached for following that bad advice.

Trump made the decision and Graham praised it.
 
There were 6000 civilian Americans in Afghanistan when this started...as of last night there were 300 left and many of those plan to stay there....all in all a pretty successful withdrawal numbers wise

According to our Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, we don't know how many there were. That was just a guess. Lots of Americans register when they get there but don't register when they leave. Some don't leave when they're supposed to for a myriad of reasons again not telling anyone anything.

I heard the numbers on the world web news last night...I assume those are expats registered with the embassy...they can absolutely count those numbers and if anyone is in the country without claiming to be...that's not part of the equation. I'm sure there are marriages where some become citizens...and some american born afghanis who have gone to the homeland...who knows...they do know they've escorted 5700 american citizens out of Afghanistan and can account for 300 that are still there..

I'll presume the ambassador has those numbers...the numbers I heard came from Joe Biden not the SOS..they are kept at the tax office so it's an easy figure to access...if americans aren't registered they've either entered the country illegally or joined the Taliban more than likely

when you live overseas you deal with the tax office and embassy...there's no mystery as to how many expats register for work permits or residence Lanny.

bullshit...Americans have not been left behind...they've been told to leave since May...of the 300 left many are Islamic americans who want to stay..some are married to locals, etc....everyone that wanted to leave had the opportunity...this is not the result of a 2 week problem...it's the result of a 20 year old problem...so much for the Hanoi Hannah propaganda....

And the war isn't just beginning, its been a war torn region for centuries. Always has been always will be. Let the other Muslim nations bring order to Afghanistan, they wont because they no they cant.
