Aldridge speaks out again about wanting a real center

Zeller is a PF, and white one

Len is also another quality white American center

What is it that is not sinking in with some of you?

There is definitely a shortage of good White American-born Centers.

There have been some in History though.

George Mikan
Bill Walton
Kevin McHale
Chris Kaman
Brook Lopez

Seems to be a dying breed for sure.

Huh, I figured if they were establishing a nice rappor, than Gortat wouldn't have been complaining about his role in the offense. His numbers are all down. I'd say he's actually NOT establishing a rapport with him.

Complaining about his role to the pg or coach? Those two are very different. And wasn't the coach fired?

if he was establish a nice rapport with his PG, I imagine he wouldn't be complaining. I would think a nice rapport would be relfected in his numbers.

Boy where do I start?

Miken played in the 40's and 50's for a total of 6.5 years
Walton played in the 70's and 80's and was injured throughout
McHale was a 6'10" PF who played in the 80's
Kaman has averaged a double double once, and has really only had two good years 16/13 and 18/9
Lopez is half white

I said "a rapport." You're saying, "a nice rapport." Different meanings.

And that was meant as a secondary reasoning for keeping Gortat. He's better than Hickson in pretty much everything except rebounding (however, that too may be inflated).

I was actually agreeing with you Man. Apparently you missed my part about History. Not sure why the need to minimize Kaman's efforts though. We would gladly take those numbers from Leonard.

Hopefully without the injuries.

What happened to Love and that assfuck that beat Aldridge for all-star vote in Golden State? Aren't they big men?

Yes they are but he is only counting true Centers. Lee has played plenty of Center in the past but more of a PF.

Oh yeah that's true. Hey both Gasol's are white and they both played center for most their career. Only Pau played PF in L.A. They are pretty damn good too! Or are we talking about only American Born white guys?

Not American though. A lot of qualifiers I know...

LOL no, it's simple

American born white centers. Although I am thinking of expanding it to North American born centers, and possibly even WWII allied born centers

Point of order: the Ruskies (and slavic countries) were ostensibly allies.

Kosta koufos, Byron mullens, Spencer hawes, Chris kaman, prime Joel przybilla, brook and robin Lopez (half), meyers and Tyler zeller are really the only white American born centers with some semblance of talent (in joels case when he was in his prime) currently in the league.

Brad Miller
Bill Walton (scoreboard MM, 2 rings)

What, no love for "Big Country?" What about Greg Osterfat?

There are quite a few more serviceable WAC's. I was trying to come up with the good ones that I could think of. Not that many of em.

Alex Len was born and raised in the Ukraine.

Aha. Then he is a tweener. I don't like that he is getting American college training. Had he stayed in the Ukraine I would like him more, but he is off the do not draft list for sure. Thanks for the correction

So the argument for white centers are guys that played before most of our team was born, a guy that averaged 12/8 during his prime and a 1/2 white center. Ok, you got me

Wait a minute. Someone above noted that there were a lot of qualifiers. To which YOU said,

Do the centers that I listed meet the laughably simply qualifiers YOU posted, or not?

George Mikan (1946-56) To those who say Mikan wouldn't even make an NBA roster today, we say, "Of course. He died seven years ago!" But seriously, he should be judged by the standards of his era, which he dominated as much as Michael Jordan dominated his own. With his ambidextrous hook shot, the 6-foot-10 Mikan led the Minneapolis Lakers to the first NBA championship in 1950, then four more in the next five years. How good was he? The league widened the lane from six feet to 12 to keep him away from the rim. When he died, Shaquille O'Neal offered to pay for his funeral with this explanation: "Without number 99 (Mikan), there is no me."
