Aldridge to the Spurs(Official)

I knew this was happening yet I'm still pretty pissed off...ugh

On a good note, the draft class next year is suppose to be pretty good. This could be a blessing in disguise, because if LMA stayed it likely would have been a first round playoff exit again. At least now Portland could have a chance at a top 5 pick and landing the next big NBA superstar.

And that's the difference between a "NBA fan" and a Blazer fan. Please take no offense and I understand where you're coming from, but that's part of what makes Blazer fans the best in the NBA. We get invested in our players, we combine civic pride with our franchise, and we reward loyalty. Which is why Wes will get a standing O when he comes back and LMA will not.

That's where a "Mar-cus Cam-by" cheer comes from. That's where people are screaming "DEEEEE-fense" at FanFests. That's why 10k people show up at a draft pick's introduction. And how they know that Federico Kammerichs has an "s" on the end of it. We're different here. We're better here. And the players that recognize that are loved for eternity.

Good post. I can't argue with you there. I've been to over 15 NBA arena's and without a doubt the two best fanbases and arena's I've been to were yours (Portland) and Seattle (RIP Supersonics).

I would love to get Sabas!

He played 9 years in one place under team control. He earned the right to leave for somewhere else for nothing. Our GM seemed to trust him when he denied a max extension last year saying "nah, man, I'm good...I just wanna sign the 5 year! I'm definitely coming back!"

Psyche.

If Dame denies a max extension in 2020, then ship him to the highest bidder.

Has any max veteran signed an extension? I can't think of a single one.

Seems like teams are forced to let stars hit unrestricted free agency and pray they stay. CP3 stayed. Dwight left, Bosh stayed, LeBron left, Gasol is staying, DeAndre left, Millsap stayed, LaMarcus left, Love stayed.

None of these players will sign extensions because they earn $60+ million waiting a year to be a free agent. If the team knows they leave you trade them. If you think they stay but not certain what do you do? We'll be in the same place in 2020 unless the next lockout changes something.

The most devious part of what the scumbag did: even at the point Olshey must have known LaPuke was leaving, his hands were semi-tied. Thanks to LaPuke's public lies (that he wanted to stay) Olshey could never have sold a trade to Allen or the fans. LaPuke made sure we wouldn't do a Love type trade and get actual value for him.

3 of 38 signed as UFAs with the team they were with going into UFA: Wade, Parker, Joe Johnson.
3 of 38 signed extensions before they went to UFA: Z-bo, Gasol, Jameer
7 of 38 were traded immediately prior to UFA, whether forced or not: Deron, Melo, Howard, Marion, CP3, Deng, Harris
1 of 38 was a UFA S&T (Lee)
2 of 38 retired as UFAs (Yao, Wally)
24 of 38 left for nothing but cap space and/or 2nds/trade exceptions (everyone else)

LMA makes it 3/39 signing with the team they went to UFA with and 25/39 leaving for nothing but cap space. (since the 2005 CBA went into effect...so Duncan/K*be don't count b/c they were under different rules)

There is a pattern to your list. Those that stayed actually frequently had success or made the finals.

Field a winning team and you have a real shot at keeping your superstar. Strike out and they bolt.

LeBron? CP3 didn't sign with his team, he forced a trade. Bosh followed LBJ and TOR got nothing.

Which gives even more merit about winning is the end all. Not location, not media, not fans. Until we field a contending team, we are fucked

Seriously though, I get that we are mad, but how angry would you be if you were a Suns fan right now? They fucked up their team because this douche on a power trip led them to believe they had a shot. They never had a shot. We never had a shot.

So, about the same amount of angry, then?

I think 3 is too small a sample size to extrapolate. wade was one of them and was willing to go to CHI with LBJ, so the point there is moot. Johnson signed with ATL, who hadn't done anything, and Parker was in the middle of a 6 year drought from the Finals.

Absolutely!!! I think they got more fucked than we did. They traded away one of the twins, which will set even more dysfunction! Maybe we should try and trade for Markiff? I bet he would always bring his "A" game against Aldridge!

I don't think Neil thought LA was coming back. I think he has known since the season ended. I think he probably knew when LA wasn't flying with the team. I think he has been trying to rebuild for about a month now.

Seriously. They were going to roll out a big poster by the Mayor down the side of some building.

Huh? The suns salary dumped Marcus Morris, Danny Granger, and Reggie Bullock to make room for LMA. I hardly call that gutting the team or making some huge sacrifice.

What are they going to do with this satanic eye sore now?

Maybe Aldridge did us a solid and forced the Suns to disrupt their franchise. We have pieces to trade for Morris

There was an article mentioning Markiff is extremely upset they traded his brother. I wouldn't be surprised if he forces them to trade him.
