Aldridge wants to play in Chicago?

LA is so over-rated. He's an average defender, average rebounder, and his #1 shot is the mid range jumper, which he only makes 42%.

I've been saying all along, trade LA, keep Hickson at PF.

Oh, so you're just a LMA hater. Nevermind...

I am going to be really depressed if we trade Aldridge. I think it's gonna bite us in the ass. We will look back at this as one of the biggest blunders Portland made.

Aldridge is a good character, hard worker and highly underrated. We are gonna watch him dominate the league on another team. Probably going to win a title too.

Might have to do with LMA saying he won't resign with us in 2 years period.

That could do it.

In which case, this is the right move

Apparently Aldridge asked out during the exit interviews and wanted to go to Chicago or Dallas.
If this is true, I would consider trading him as the situation will continue to get worse over time and could turn into another Dwightmare at which point the Blazers will be hard pressed to get equal value. However, having said that, I wouldn't make accomodating LA's choice of teams a priority (i.e. trade him to the team offering the best package of young talent and draft picks).

Personally, I would consider trading him for a package including Kevin Love (I threw up a little bit as I typed that), to the Thunder for a package including Russell Westbrook, or to Houston for a package of Omer Asik, T-Rob, Chandler Parsons, Montejunas and their draft pick.

If he is asking; then I would understand. I still don't see it. He's been truly loyal with this franchise. I have never heard him say anything publicly that would lead me to believe he wants out.

We can kiss getting a decent free agent goodbye too. Who would want to come to a lottery team?

He is completely on board with the rebuild, especially since it appears to be a center away from a return to the playoffs.

One of the more bizarre tidbits to surface today is the LaMarcus Aldridge "trade request." That's not how LA rolls.

Just sayin', if the rumors were true - it would make sense why they'd be actively trying to trade him.

Not saying he did, just saying IF he did, it makes sense.

Ah, gotcha. I won't believe any of it until he pulls a Howard/Anthony/Williams and tells the media himself he wants out of Portland.

Truthfully, it's hard for me to believe that he wants out when we are seemingly - not that far away.

Lillard, Batum, Matthews are all still relatively young, and should improve. LMA himself is yet to turn 28. Why would he want to leave right now?

Please lets all take a deep breath --- LaMarcus Aldridge has not asked for a trade.

BUT WHAT IF HE DID!!! :MARIS61:

We should spend days dwelling on it, of course.

Without fail, around the draft and trade deadline ESPN and the rest of the national media projects the Blazers to be trading their assets to big market teams for crap. There are zero quotes here... catch a clue people

STOMP
LOL, so true. Usually it's the New York media thinking the NBA farm teams are just going to give away their best player.

Yeah, I was going to comment on STOMP's post, too. What is discouraging is that the LMA Hate Squad takes any rumor and treats it as legitimate, and that you're being "childish" if you question them on their idiotic trade scenarios.

Even if he did, just hope he keeps his mouth shut in the public. We don't need his value plummeting at the wrong time.

I don't know if this has been stated already, but what if we got Noah and signed a big like Josh Smith, Milsapp, or Al Jefferson to start at PF? I know Al sucks at defense, but maybe Noah could offset that a little?

Great minds think alike.

Also, why isn't Fez beating the DeMarcus for LaMarcus drums yet?

That would be a great bumper sticker. So it stands to reason it would be good policy. :devilwink:

Okay, so these reports of Aldridge asking to go to Chicago or Dallas could mean two things:

1) Aldridge is hearing all these rumors about being traded and he's trying to influence where he will be dealt.

2) The Blazers are trying to trade him and they wanted to lessen the fallout with the fanbase so they leak rumors that Aldridge asked to be traded to put the blame on him.

I don't think the Blazers are actively shopping him. I think they're getting calls and the offers might be getting better and better. It might get to a point where an offer is just too tempting not to take. But it would have to be big.

Could be either of those or it could just as easily be people making rumors up.

I don't believe for a moment that Steve Kyler has credible sources or in other words he knows. He's guessing.

3) They are complete bullshit, and people like you buy them and act childish when others call out the "sources" as being questionable, at best.
