Aldridge wants to play in Chicago?

This forum is a straight NUTHOUSE right now!

We need to have a gay person run up to LMA and take the word Trade away from him.

Let's pretend this is true. Let's then pretend that Chicago would give us Deng/Gibson/Teague for Aldridge. Then let's pretend the Clippers would give us Jordan for Batum/Freeland. We could, conceivably, make this 3-way deal:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=oo94rf9

Lillard/Teague
Matthews/Barton
Deng/Claver
Gibson/Zeller (#10)
Jordan/Leonard

Mediocrity-land?

Yes.

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Let's pretend LaMarcus has to be traded for whatever reason.

TANK!

You cannot trade a Prime All-Star and "win" the trade in the now, only in the future (maybe). The Blazers WITH said All-Star is not good enough. We can't trade LaMarcus and be much better next season.

Thus, the best option is to TANK. Especially when you consider that the 2014 draft will be much better than this year and the free agent class will be much better than this year. So, take a year off, push cap space to next year, get lottery pick or picks next year, then rebuild.

More fuel to the "LA may want out of POR" fire.....

It sounds like Neil called them about LMA.

I'd guess he wanted Blake.

Thus, the talks went nowhere.

What's funny is Aldridge is actually a better piece there, but lob city fans would never go for it.

Bulls deal would be like Deng, Boozer, and maybe Taj for LMA and filler...

The fact that you didn't start with Mirotic and the CHA pick is insulting.

Taj is a backup.

Deng is not needed.

Boozer is garbage.

You're about as sharp as a bowling ball if you think Neil would go far that or anything close to that offer.

How do you figure?

Did we make the playoffs last year?

No?

Then with our All-Star, the team is not good enough.

I don't think that is a particularly controversial statement. I thought is was just an assumed truth.

Shelburne: Blazers, Clippers Discussed Possibility Of LaMarcus Aldridge Trade http://sbn.to/10m0nGg

I find articles whose basis is a vague one sentence tweet annoying, as in an opposite to credible way. However, read the tweet comments for the truly annoying. The LA fans think we're going to give them LMA for nothing. Of course they're glad to take him for free.... and HCP keeps saying THIS is a nuthouse...

I am going to be really depressed if we trade Aldridge. I think it's gonna bite us in the ass. We will look back at this as one of the biggest blunders Portland made.

Aldridge is a good character, hard worker and highly underrated. We are gonna watch him dominate the league on another team. Probably going to win a title too.

We has the worst fucking bench in the league man! Lillard is a year better. Matthews will probably be healthy. Batum will be healthy. We can find a center better suited for us than hickson.

Just adding 10 ppg from the bench could have easily gotten us into the playoffs

Without fail, around the draft and trade deadline ESPN and the rest of the national media projects the Blazers to be trading their assets to big market teams for crap. There are zero quotes here... catch a clue people

I don't think Masbee is saying that it was LMA's fault. What I read is that he is saying if the Blazers couldn't make the playoffs with an All-Star PF, then how will they next year if they get rid of their best player for lesser players?

On my mistake

I'd deal LA for Noah. Who cares if Noah isn't a "youngin" he's a very good defensive center, and that is exactly what the Blazers need. He improves the team. It would allow us to resign Hickson and still have cap room for another free agent, like Corey Brewer for example.

LA is so over-rated. He's an average defender, average rebounder, and his #1 shot is the mid range jumper, which he only makes 42%.

I've been saying all along, trade LA, keep Hickson at PF.

Why would Chicago trade Noah? Seems to me they'd be more likely to trade Boozer, since LMA and Boozer play the same position. Also, Noah's a very limited offensive player, which means either Nic needs to step up and be a shot-creator, or Lillard is going to be the sole focus of opposing defenses. The team struggled to score enough last season. I'd hate to see what removing LMA from the line-up and bringing in a non-offensive player would do.

Exactly...
