His feel/timing is elite - ELITE!

He doesn't have the touch around the rim that Z-Bo has. Hopefully that'll come in time. He has the same wide build though.

IMO his closest comp is Kevin Love.

What say you?

Best thing I can say about him is he has a tremendous feel for the game and makes the right play 99% of the time. Really happy with this draft

If I have to make a judgement based off college & summer league I'd go with someone a little older than Love.
Elton Brand.

Whoever his comp is I know one thing; he's going to play as a rookie. His game is too smart. What's interesting is he'll look even better playing with better players. Can you imagine the damage he will cause with Nurkic next to him? Love the high low potential with those two as well.

Sad to see him run out of gas at the end. He was an absolute warrior out there.

His passing has been a surprise. He is not just hitting the open man. He is at times leading a teammate to create an opening.

Don't know why that's a surprise. He did it in college.

7 assists even in a SL game is much better than the few he averaged in college.

He averaged 3 last season. That's not a few for a big man. That's about what Nurkic averaged in Portland.

...no no, Elton Brand was an elite defender and shot blocker thru most of his career (he also only shot 21 total three pointers during his 17 seasons in the NBA)

It's just summer league

From OregonLive:

"In eight games, Swanigan averaged 16.1 points and 10.6 rebounds, recording six double-doubles while joining Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Marreese Speights as the fourth rookie to average a double-double at summer league."

It's just summer league, but that's pretty good company.

Nice list of comparables in the stats from this article:

I can definitely see him somewhere in the continuum between Mo Speights and Griffin. I think he's got some of Griffin's passing ability and ball handling, Love's three point shooting and Mo's scorer mindset.

Honestly, I'd have been perfectly happy drafting Mo Speights at number 26. A solid decade of coming off the bench and logging 16-18PER over 15mpg ain't bad. I think that's the low end of his projections.

Mo didn't show three point range until the last couple of years, though, and has never passed the ball in his life. Kevin Love or Griffin seem wildly optimistic to me, so I can definitely see him somewhere in the middle.

You can focus your offense on Griffin or Love. I'm not sure that'll ever happen with Swanigan. I think it's more likely he becomes Draymond Green with mediocre defense, which is still a pretty good player.

Especially the passing. He made so many passes out of the post that our summer league scrubs whiffed on. If he can deliver those same kind of passes to Nurk, CJ, Dame and Harkless, I don't see how you keep him out of the starting spot.

Very excited to see Swanigan's impact this upcoming season. Won't be surprised if he's already a solid starter by mid way thru his rookie year.
