I’m watching a one hour convo between Chad Ford and Howard Beck about Scoot from December 2021. I didn’t learn this until listening in, but apparently Scoot was about a month too young to qualify for the 2022 Draft. Both guys agreed Scoot would be #1 over Banchero, Holmgren, or Smith. We got him in 2023.

Shae would’ve been the #2 or #3 prospect in 2023, he slips to us in 2022.

Th Blazers got lucky as hell in the last two drafts. Being lucky is most of the battle in the NBA.

“His mother would even have to bring his birth certificate to the games just to prove he was the same age as the other players, as the opposing teams parents and fans couldn’t wrap their heads around a kid doing the things that he was able to produce on the court.”

that midrange pullup is a deadly weapo to pair with his killer first step.

and 19 yr old PGs don't normally make the kinda reads he does.

He's like the Floyd Mayweather of basketball. Destined to be an athlete since birth. Started with football as a kid then switched to basketball. I don't think he ever seriously considered doing any other profession. He had 24/7access to a basketball gym owned by his family.

So basically a 6'2" Lebron.

Anfernee Simons measured 6' 2.25". CJ McCollum also measure 6' 2.25".
So, unless they are wearing thicker shoes, Scoot isn't shorter than either of them.

Lu Dort is about the same size as Scoot right? And he plays SG. Sometimes SF.

I know it's a lot to ask for, but if Scoot really wants to give him and Dame the best shot together, he'll dedicate himself into becoming a stopper on defense.

He did say in the rookie press conference, regarding defense, he wanted "to grow in that aspect, and become one of the premier defenders in the league."
Lu Dort is .25 inches taller w/out shoes at 6' 2.75". Dort's wingspan was measured as 6' 8.5". Scoot is said to have a 6' 9" wingspan.

I don't think it's Scoot, it's the talent of the team.

If we had traded Ant Nurk for Bridges Claxton I think Dame would be esctatic to have that group starting and he'd be fine having Scoot back him up as well as play at times together.

Sounds good, but BRK was never close to doing that. Teams don't value Ant that much and Nurk is an average center.

Agreed, but that wasn't the point of my post.

I'm saying Dame would be fine if this team had better starters. Having Scoot back him up and play with him some minutes is not the issue. Not having a legit starting forward is.

...and of course you don't play hoops with the top of your head. Moreso then either Ant or CJ, he's got a combo of athleticism, length and bulk that should allow him to better guard bigger players.

I view him as a Westbrook with self awareness. His shot is also not hopeless.
Westbrook's shot mechanics aren't bad, he just can't shoot. It's the guys who get overly hyped that often get the yips on their jumper.

He's atleast a full inch taller than Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell measured at 6'1.25 w/o shoes and had a 8'1 standing reach with 6'10 wingspan.

Scoot is at 6'2.5 w/o shoes and 6'9 wingspan.

He gets into the lane with ease. Based on his highlights it looks like his wing span helps him finish. (when he is not dunking)

Yesirr it is, happy that it was in our favor this time. It’s actually kind of lucky how we got.

Shaedon’s physical profile is in the 1%, 6’6 in shoes, 6’11.5 wingspan, NBA ready body, 48” vertical. With his advanced scoring skillset at 19.

Scoot is probably right around the top 5 athletically. Probably 6’4 in shoes, 6’9 wingspan, Anthony Edwards-type body in a PG, and probably between 42-46” vertical.

These two could be one of the best backcourts in the NBA, physically only behind Green and Amen. Mitchell and Garland are probably the best backcourt that comes off the top of my head, but Shae/Scoot are more gifted athletically. Imo, whether or not Green or Scoot learn to play above average defense will determine who is the #1 young backcourt in three years.

Dame being on the team plays into our luck as well. I would want nothing more than to have my backcourt mentored by Dame.
