    Prepare yourselves because it's going to be tough watching Amen Thompson this season. He very well might look like the Rockets' best player, because he'll be thrust into a much more prominent role (he may even be their starting point guard) and it looks like his three point shooting has improved. Let's try to focus on the things he can't do so that we don't obsess about passing on him to take Scoot.

    Doesn't matter. The draft is a gamble. If our plans counted on Scoot being a superstar then we had bad plans.

    Maybe he will be. But I hope that wasn't a necessity in our plans.

    If you draft high you will almost certainly pass on a guy better than you take. Unless you get the #1 pick. Even then I'd bet it's 50/50 or less that you get the best player available.

    It will be intersting to how he does at PG this season. I wonder if running the offense will hurt or help him. My guess is he is best suited at the wing.

    He is amazing out there. Love his game and what he brings. As far as being drafted….. the Rockets would have taken Scoot too with the #3 pick if they had it. Just like Seattle was begging us for the #1 pick to take Greg.

    Draft = giant crapshoot.

    It was tough watching Thompson last season and by all accounts he will probably take another leap this season, just need Scoot to not be a complete bust at this point. I have faith that a guy like Amen's game will translate quicker to the NBA game, while a guy trying to run the point will take a bit more time, but year 3 is time to see that jump from Scoot.

    I think he will have a stats wise worse season this year after the rockets added KD. While Scoot could very well have a stats wise better season than last year if he’s able to remain healthy. Maybe this is an obvious take just given the player movement for each team.

    Scoot is done in Portland. They traded for Jrue with three years and $100+ million on the books, then went and signed Lillard. I expect Scoot to play very little, do very little, have nagging injuries and eventually ask to be traded. Doubt he is offered a rookie extension. Obviously Billups has no use for him. When the coach got the extension I figured Scoot was done. I like him. Was never really given a chance because the Blazers kept straddling the fence. Giving too much time to Brogdon. They should have accepted the suck and let Scoot learn on the fly. Oh well, I’ll root for him on his next team.

    I get what you're saying. Hope it doesn't go down that way.

    Chauncey clearly deserves an oscar with the way he was gushing over Scoot in the interview with Lamar.

    This is a preposterous take... not because it's impossible but because you state it with such certainty and at best this "Scoot is done in Portland" take is highly improbible. I find it far more likely that Jrue gets moved at the deadline. I do think that by the beginning of next season we won't have a roster that includes Scoot, Shaedon, Jrue and Dame.

    I think for where this team is at and where their most likely championship window is that Scoot, Shaedon and Dame would be the back court rotatoin next season. I still have a lot of faith in Scoot and I don't see Chauncey saying everything he did about Scoot before his injury if there wasn't some truth to it.

    Obviously this is my opinion.This is a chat site. There is nothing certain in sports, ever. With that said, some point to how Chauncey "raved" about Scoot. He better rave about Scoot, even though IMO he would rather have Brogdon, Jrue and Dame. Chauncey also raves about Jrue and Dame, as he should. I put no stock in coach speak. That is what he wants out there, gives him the best shot at winning and extending his own career. Likewise, Scoot has to be saying to himself "why the hell did these guys draft me just to turn the team over to these old guys?" Sure, they still have game, but this team will be lucky to even be in the play in hunt, again, IMO. Now if they are banking on Jrue/Dame being gone in three years when their contracts are up and handing it over to Scoot, why would he want that? What kind of offer is a third string PG that has no ability to prove anything really getting? Why would Scoot want to stay, rewarding the team that has shown no faith in him and killed his value, again, IMO? I see this being a Kuminga situation. But I am certain I could be wrong, or I could be right. This is a product of straddling the fence. If this is just the new NBA and rookies have very little leverage, interesting. Cheers.

    Amen Thompson is the most overrated player in the NBA. And why does no one talk about his brother who is basically the same player? Scoot’s career PPG and APG are better than Amen’s but I don’t care about comparing them. I just don’t understand all the media types who talks about him like he’s a superstar. He’s a fine player with upside. Nothing special at this point in his career.

    For one, Amen was nba all defensive first team last year. For two, Amen had a better statistical season than Scoot last year.

    I'd say a guy at the age of 22 making an all nba defensive first team is pretty phenomenal.
