This is great news. Eventually Jody has to be like fuck this shit I’m out. She didn’t even buy the team herself how much could she even care any longer

It's almost as if the fans liked a player who demanded that he be traded away.

I am sad at the news but also like -- See Dipshit Cronin -- when you do what you want over what the fans want this is what you get BUT I will not just say that and not mention ROOT sports being a total cluster fuck too.

Message to Jody -- Get rid of the idiot of a GM and get a better TV deal and by the way -- SELL THE DAMN TEAM ALREADY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol this is not cronins fault.

You mean trading the face of your franchise does not effect things ?? -- are you fucking serious now granted the Root sports thing and comcast jacking up prices is huge too but if your sitting there and telling me Cronin has no blame your full of it. Also want to know what your smoking cause you gotta be high or something -- LOL

I am not saying it was not right to turn it over to Scoot cause I am still torn if we should have stayed with Dame or done the route were on but trading Dame has had some blow back and that is a fact.

It doesn't help that it's difficult to watch the team, but Blazer fans can be extremely fair weather. I was there during the Telfair days where the Rose Garden was basically empty.
Agreed on the fair weathernedness. And, while I can see a drop with Dame leaving, I'd have thought there'd at least be the excitement of the young guys for people to tune in. The original 60% link was I believe behind a paywall, so unsure where it comes from. But I know besides on here, I've talked to a few people who got fed up with issues with root and general broadcast availability and switched to finding streams.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers have seen the largest percentage decline in local TV viewership among NBA teams this season. Viewership of Blazers' games, which air on Root Sports Northwest, is down 49%, according to the Sports Business Journal (SBJ).

Reasons for Portland's decline aren't spelled out by SBJ, but there are at least three obvious factors that could explain the drop in viewership: the departure of franchise superstar Damian Lillard, who was traded before the season to the Milwaukee Bucks; the Blazers' poor performance this season (at 15-39, Portland has the fifth-worst record in the NBA); and the fact that the games air on Root Sports, which was pulled from Xfinity's standard package and relegated to the more-expensive "ultimate" tier package of channels prior to the season.

The other four teams with the highest drop in local viewership, along with the Blazers, were the Brooklyn Nets (-37%), Washington Wizards (-35%), Cleveland Cavaliers (-16%) and New Orleans Pelicans (-12%). While the Nets and Wizards are, like the Blazers, among the NBA's worst-performing teams, the Cavaliers and Pelicans are not, so the correlation of team success to local viewership isn't a concrete connection.

The Blazers' steep decline comes despite NBA viewership in local television markets being up across the league. SBJ reports that "according to the Nielsen Station Index — which measures the audience for 27 NBA teams across 25 local U.S. markets — 18 franchises had increased their linear TV viewership year-to-year through the same amount of games."

The five NBA teams with the highest percentage gains in viewership are all playoff contenders — the Denver Nuggets (+139%), Minnesota Timberwolves (+107%), Phoenix Suns (+94) and Orlando Magic (+76) — along with the San Antonio Spurs (+54%), surely buoyed by top draft pick Victor Wembanyama.

The Suns' increase in local viewers could be instructive for Portland's future. Phoenix moved its games to free over-the-air broadcasts this season. The Blazers, whose contract with Root Sports ends after the 2024-25 season, are surely keeping an eye on data like that as they weigh options for their next local TV deal.

In-game attendance has not seen as sharp a drop for the Blazers this season as TV viewership. Portland is averaging 18,354 fans this season, which ranks 13th in the NBA, down from 18,716 last season, which ranked 10th. That marks just a 1.9% decrease.

KGW reached out to the Portland Trail Blazers for a response but has yet to hear back.

Dame demanded a trade. Jody said Joe couldn't bring him back.

This was out of Joe's hands.

now the narrative is it's on Jody -- when did this come out cause unless you show me proof ( article etc ) that is complete and utter fucking BS made up by Cronin ass kissers. However I should not be surprised that now the Cronin ass kissers now blame Jody and not Cronin anything to make it not his fault in some way.

This is the problem today with people they like to find a way to pass the buck of blame unto others when did owning your crap -- good or bad become a bad thing.

I own the fact I am a SoB at times on this forum and take ownership of it but the jack asses ( not calling anyone here that ) around today just cannot do it.

Cronin said Jody nixed the idea of Dame coming back after the trade demand and he hasn't been fired, so I don't think he's lying about that.

Honestly, I've been thinking about it too - even as a diehard season ticket holder, I'm losing interest in the NBA as a whole. I just think the whole product is a worse value than it used to be - and not just because we currently suck. I'll renew my season tickets next month but if things aren't noticeably better next year, I'm not sure beyond that.

It's okay to take a step back and look at the macro.

You'll be fine, I promise. Breathe.

I've only cared about the blazers. The rest of the league is a fucking joke. Worst league of the major sports and that's not even up for debate lol.

Nate very grown up as much as I am not a fan of you I have no issue debating you but if your just going to act the fool then just do not even respond to me if all your going to do is try and get me to come at ya.

I am trying my best to keep my cool when fools ( a lot of this forum ) say stupid shit just to bait people into reactions.

Blazer fans are notoriously fickle and front running. The fact their ratings are down when the teams most exciting player in 30 years is gone and they suck.

And there's always an excuse. I'm sure it was something about Clyde being traded before we got Sheed. And then it was that they wouldn't support the Jail Blazers, but that was conveniently only after we stopped being good. Now I'm sure it's because Dame is gone.

Like I said this is great news. For an owner who didn’t even buy the team, will not have fun with this part of owning a team.

“At Times”?
Bro, you gotta get some stuff going on in your life. You gotta a lot of anger built up on some stuff that doesn’t seem that important. I think Sly has a Hobby Thread on the OT page.

I am only going to address this once and say it once then I plan on trying to move on ....

HCP -- your right I need to chill out cause if I am being honest even though I can be intense at times only a couple posters get under my skin to the point where I turn into a SOB and one of them tried to bait me in this thread and I did not bite.

I plan on walking away from this forum until the off season unless there is some breaking news or something big happens but if I am being honest seeing this team like it is when in my opinion could have been avoided has triggered me too. I can handle the Blazers being bad but this whole thing could have been avoided if the team had a new owner and a GM and that is a fact. I am not saying it would be all sunshine and roses but right now this team is in the worst shape it's been in for as long as I have been a fan ( 1989/90 ). Watching Dame leave town and certain fans turn on him has pissed me off and I have not handled it at all well too cause I was understanding of a rebuild but the fans venom I was not and it triggered me . I am not excusing my behavior but I do feel like some have liked seeing me go off the rails and even goaded me at times and it's part of reason I am taking a break too.

Last thing is I am sorry for some of my outbursts of passion but they were laced with venom and that was wrong but this does not apply to NB cause you try to trigger me but to the rest I will do better in the future and Go Blazers !!!

ADDON - I will monitor this thread for the rest of the day and maybe respond if needed but after today I will not be posting unless news happens like I said above.

Worse shape since 89/90? You must've fallen asleep during the 2004-2006 era. That roster had NO long term talent outside of Zach Randolph.

No -- my reasoning for saying that is I have ZERO faith in Jody and Cronin and hell even if I had some faith in Cronin I am not sure Jody would even allow it cause I feel like this is a Mariners situation where the owner will only allow the team to spend so much and not go over a certain amount.
