Another year of Root Sports, no streaming, same' ol same ol'?

Streaming will likely be similar to Jazz+ where you pay a fee but must be in Oregon/S. Washington region (same as jazz+). If outside the region you can buy league pass.

Agree there won't be a free streaming option.
Blazers region goes all the way up to Alaska rn with ROOT. Curious where the new lines will be.

Free is a pretty good incentive for people to figure out how to deal with a new provider. Dealing with Root (if you could) wasn’t a pain in the ass?
Funny thing is, for a lot of people it wasn't. My family was able to watch Blazers games for the first time in like 15 years.

It was always easy IF you lived in their service area and were content with being a Comcast subscriber. The fact that a large number of people are no longer satisfied with being tied to a cable company and their 250 channels that you never watch, but instead want to stream things that they do watch, left the Blazers tied to a sinking ship being hauled under by a cable anchor. The new plan of going to KPTV, which is available either via cable, streaming live TV platforms, or broadcast over the air is a much more consumer-friendly approach.

As a DirecTV customer since 2000, my family couldn’t even watch Blazer games until recently. For my family it was great.

Jumpin junipers! I missed the news. Anyone kind enough to give a synops? What channel will Blazer games be on? Fox 12 if i skimmed correctly?

I find it funny that there is a possibility Blazers could be on Chick fil A streaming

They COULD have. But that's not what actually happened.
That has to do with the team trading their best player ever though right? Not where the team broadcast was being watched right?

Is that when they switched? I thought they switch to Root before that... I certainly never watched on Root... Unless that was the only pirate stream I could find.

You'd be VERY surprised how few people stream anything. Still a lot of old school viewers out there.
Well sure, especially on this forum where the average age is probably 65.

But that's balances by all the young people who only stream. This was a tiny niche of cord cutters 10 years ago, but grows every year. And advertisers want to go for young people, old people aren't going to buy anything they see on TV. Their too set in their ways.

Just look at the money Amazon/Apple/Peacock/etc are throwing down on the new NBA TV deal as well as NFL.

Actually once they switched to root, MORE people could watch.
Sure, but mostly people in Washington or other non Blazers regions that could care less.

Probably didn't help that it was buried behind Kracken games and other programming on Root, and moved to different root channels.

Even then, you couldn't watch them on the go. It was extremely limited

Are we talking about “cared” to watch or had the ability to watch?

I'm pretty sure the free Blazer games will only be available OTA. The streaming platforms will want to charge subscribers extra for the Blazer games and that throws the economics of this off.
Will be interesting how it works. I know it’s apples to oranges. But MLS is on Apple+ streaming extra sub. But the KPTV+ games still make it to YouTube tv feeds.

^ I see reading this dude’s basketball takes are on par with his political ones…..Jesus God Almighty!
