Another year of Root Sports, no streaming, same' ol same ol'?

Welcome to our community

Hopefully they make it easy for those of us outside of the metro area but still in the market to watch them too

How long until they start bitching about the new situation……….
we're running low on "they". It was reported initially that 60% of Blazers fans jumped ship. Self proclaimed "expert Blazer reporters" admitted they didn't watch any games last season, probably because they weren't going to spend a gazillion dollars buying upgraded cable.

There were snitches trying to cozy up to ROOT & Jody. For example, Chad Doing radio host became upset about pirated Blazers streams. He asked his 7 listeners to "send me the links" every time someone found a non-official broadcast. As if that had anything to do with why Blazer fans didn't spend 30 bucks more a month to buy Root's last second "jack up the price" ponzi scheme.

Cutting off the fanbase was wrong. It should be up to Blazer fans around the world to watch their favorite franchise. Not get raked over the coals by a Seattle based cable company that holds a grudge against the NBA, after their Sonics team was stolen by dirty, lying OKC oil & gasoline slangers.

Educate yourself. It was Comcast Xfinity that chose to move Root to the top tier package. Root & the Blazers were pissed off about it for obvious reasons.

But more people in eastern Idaho can watch a Blazer game if they want to! It's always been about getting more eyeballs! Except who cares about popular streaming options or Xfinity putting it on a package that people won't passively watch!

Fans continue to get screwed in this deal. Can Mat Ishbia buy the Blazers too??? Please?
Hopefully, they learn from their past mistakes, and the next TV deal will be better. The writing was on the wall years ago - RSNs have never been the future, and the Blazers didn't want to be ahead of the curve despite having the infrastructure to do so. It turns out that adding up households in Idaho, Alaska, and Montana didn't equal a good enough result to see this deal through to the end.

Sports teams keep RSNs alive, and live sports keeps cable alive - Never made sense to for the Blazers to put themselves at the whim of Root OR Comcast when they've had the ability to distribute their own broadcast.

True on the first part of what you said.
Second part - it’s not that easy to just “distribute” a broadcast.

Never said it was, ROOT was definitely the easy way out. The first step is the organization producing their own broadcast, and the Blazers had a leg up there over many other organizations. Hopefully they're ready now.
