They actually just scooped up Rich Eisen. The best in the game right now.
Rich Eisen is the best sports talk podcast/radio show guy in the game right now but he doesn't know who the top 100 middle school basketball prospects in the country are. He'd be good at hosting the draft, he'd make us laugh and make us think but who is he going to throw it to when we need to here about a guy like the newest guy on the Blazers Yang Hansen.

They may end up bringing someone in... I think they'll have to but they do let a lot of great talent go because they think the brand is bigger than the talent. That's why Eisen left in the first place. It's why Bill Simmons is no longer there. Hell, I can't stand the guy but it's why Skip Bayless is no longer there. Maybe they think Shams can cover all of the trades, signings and the draft. We'll have to wait and see.

If true, I wonder why? He won’t be getting any more money? He’s not gonna play a ton? I mean why?
You just mentioned exactly why. If you’re not gonna make a ton of money and not even play, you might as well be in a desirable location.

This looks like a 30 win roster in the west to me. Have no idea in the east though;

Damn that Celtics roster just really sucks and blows my mind how it's projected by Vegas to have a winning record over 42 wins. Niang and Queta as starters is crazy.

Simons is what the 4th best Celtic player after Brown, White, Pritchard?

Even without Dame he'd be 6 here behind Jrue, Camara, Deni, Grant, Clingan. Scoot/Sharpe are very close to passing him too. Meanwhile our betting odds are 33 wins.

Conferences matter.

Yeah for sure. I just wonder how much of the Celtics "brand" is baked into those projections.

If that roster was the Hornets or Wizards I bet the line would be 29 wins.

Celtics also might tank if their a middling team part way through the season. Then they get a good pick and setup to bounce back next season. If anything their "brand" will have them not care about having one losing season in a Spurs Duncan sort of way.

Hard to be confident with so much trash teams in the East but if I'm putting money down it's certainly on their under.

Id much rather have a Jrue+Thybulle duo on the floor that can contribute on both ends than Ant+Ben types that are a complete zero on one side

If Embiid career is more or less over it's going to be one of the more unusual ones.

Comes into the league on "the process" with the most tanking in history, stretches of play being dominant, out injured basically half of the 11 years, some stacked teams and crazy high draft picks, never getting past the 2nd round, winning an MVP

Bizarre teammates with Butler, Simmons, Fultz, Harden, etc. GMs from Heinke to Colangelo, Elton Brand, and Morey.

Greatest accomplishment of his career was him and Doc breaking Ben Simmons' spirit. They systematically took that guy apart until he went from a 3 time all star, one time all nba and one time runner up DPOY to the biggest head case possibly in league history, just in terms of on court performance there have been way more mentally ill guys in the NBA.

Did Embiid/Doc actually do anything?

Or did Simmons finally just get exposed for who he truly was.

NBA offseason grades: How every team fared before 2025-26 season

Portland Trail Blazers
Grade: C

It was an eventful summer for the Blazers, who dealt for Jrue Holiday, made the draft's most interesting pick in Chinese center Yang Hansen and reunited with franchise icon Damian Lillard. Adding two veteran All-Star guards could crowd Portland's backcourt when Lillard returns from an Achilles rupture, likely in 2026-27. And the Blazers still haven't found a new home for forward Jerami Grant, who was surpassed in the rotation last season by younger Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara.

Kind of hard to grade this Blazers offseason;
  • Dame signing is great for both the Blazers and fans. But objectively any team giving 42m to 35yr old with no Achilles and only one playable season normally should be highly criticized
  • Hansen looks great but kind of an unusual pick. Also Atlanta trade was such an A+++ it would be a major blunder to any team who passed over that
  • Ant trade was great for dismantling the horrific AytonGrantAnt big3 - but tons of red flags on that contract in 2-3 years
  • Ayton buyout was fabulous move - but how does any buyout ever deserve praise
