7 for 12, Dort, filler, then 12 and Bledsoe for Grant.
Ugh! I'm not saying you're wrong because this seems very plausible but if this is what we do we are leaving ourselves really small in the starting lineup again and with four heavy rotation players (Dort, Grant, Nas and Justise) we have to extend, re-sign next off season or let walk.

unless we have a deal lined up for Hart, i don't buy the Dort stuff whatsoever. think we might have kicked the tires on him, but the fit makes very little sense.

I'm not thrilled with Dort and 12 unless I know Sharpe is off the board and I'm getting Sochan at 12.

And I'm a fan of Dort.

Dort is glorified Hart. Put up decent numbers because someone has to score for the Thunder. Defensively they’re very comparable

If we trade the #7 for Dort we’d be the laughing stock of the NBA.

When you’re a market like the Blazers you have to hope the front office does it’s due diligence and then play the dart board of the draft. Especially with a top 10 pick. Unless you’re getting a bonafide star or star on the cusp.

Dort is not that. Solid role player. A cute piece on a team like the Warriors

My thoughts on using our best asset on Dort...

If there is a #7 for Dort + #12, you have to think there is one of the future 7,342 Draft picks OKC that would also be included.

Sounds like hoarders. I bet they lose track of what they got while they’re still negotiating for more.

also diminishing returns. they lose value when they've monopolized the market of all picks with a finite # of roster spots and guaranteed contracts.

At some point you’d think they’d want to consolidate for actual appreciable talent.

Simons is the foundation? A 25 game stretch in his 4th season makes Ant a franchise player?
Foundation for a rebuild and foundation to win now are very different things.

Ant is a great option because he is young and has displayed high potential. Of course there's major questions and small sample size, if there wasn't hed already be a star. If he realizes the potential that is great. If not the team loses and gets better draft picks to search for a new foundation.

An Ant/Brown/top3 pick have championship rebuild potential many years from now. Dame and Ant aren't close to that level.

If they just keep all the picks maybe. I'd expect they trade away picks at this and next year's draft for future picks.

Eventually they either consolidate picks to multiple stud top5 type picks. Or they eventually make a win now move and trade tons of picks for a couple all stars.

Their doing a great job of rebuilding, as they have tons of possible directions they can go to add elite talent.

lol did Atkinson get scared straight after seeing the Bridges/Harrell drug fiasco?

Maybe warriors got close to matching dollars? He can still get paid, work less hours, and hold out for more $ on next HC offer.

There is no precedence for this outside of maybe Boston in 08, but that model is tough to replicate in a market like OKC.

I have a bold prediction. Presti jumps ship in a year or two.

cause you say so? I don't agree at all

you don't build a team around a role player and at this point, that's all Ant is. We're talking about trading away a franchise player because of Simons? That's not a foundation for a rebuild; that's a foundation for becoming the Sacramento Kings. That's "we don't draft Chris Paul because we have Sebastian Telfaire". That's Linsanity

cause you say so? I don't agree at all

you don't build a team around a role player and at this point, that's all Ant is. We're talking about trading away a franchise player because of Simons? That's not a foundation for a rebuild; that's a foundation for becoming the Sacramento Kings. That's "we don't draft Chris Paul because we have Sebastian Telfaire". That's Linsanity
No... we're talking about trading away a franchise player because many believe it will not be possible to build a contender around him given his age and our current level of assets, and this trade moves our window for reaching contention by about 8 years.

No one wants Lillard because he's not as good as Curry.

red herring

that's not the point I was arguing...at all. I was saying that it's stupid to try and build a team around Simons as the foundational piece. If you want to keep Simons that's fine; I don't mind. But for fucksakes he has not come anywhere close to showing the level of talent, and the base of skills, for enough time, in enough circumstances, that you trade the franchise player to build around him. At this point he's a supporting player and you don't build a roster based upon a supporting player...unless you're the KIngs

We don't if he is or can be a foundational player. If he is good enough, we'd find out soon enough, and be in great shape going forward. If he isn't... we'd find out soon enough, and have another lottery pick next year. Either way, we'd avoid another purgatory situation.
