I'd already heard of failed ones before I followed the NBA...then Bill Russell with the Sonics when I moved to the Northwest in 1974...later Don Nelson, etc...

Somebody make a list.

We need a player-coach to replace Stotts. Jimmy Butler. With an offer including that, he'd sign with the Blazers this summer.

Here is a list of NBA player-coaches. The Blazers' Lenny Wilkens was only the second-to-last. Cowens was the last one.

Thibs should have stayed in his lane as the best defensive coordinator around...he failed as a head coach across the board..better to be the best at something than just mediocre at something else....we could use him as an assistant, that's for sure

I see Woj says that Monty is on the list of guys that Minnesota may go after. I'd love to see him get a head coaching gig. I really loved that guy. I'm not sure how great of a coach he is, but he seems like such a good dude.

Monty was the head coach of the Pelicans for 5 seasons or does that not count?
