Don't we have a decision to make with Connaughton today or tomorrow?

That contract for Simmons.....wish it was us.

Interesting. I just saw a couple of non guaranteed guys being released today by other teams, figured connaughton was in the same boat.

The dates are negotiable and vary from player to player.

I think you should go play the sport he is actually good at like baseball.
Pat's playing the sport that's fun and will pay him more. Until the checks stop coming. I would too.

When his days are done in Portland though, I don't imagine some other team picking him up.

Wonder if he works on his pitching at all in his spare time?

BTW, there is nothing magical about the dates these contracts become guaranteed. As long as both parties agree, they can be changed - they just need to happen before the final opening day rosters are due in October.

I read earlier today that OKC and Semaj Christon have agreed to move his guaranteed contract deadline out until the end of training camp. It was originally July 15.

I wonder if the Blazers and Pat C. might do something similar. I think the Blazers want the flexibility to cut Pat if we need to free up a roster spot, trade him as a non-guaranteed contract as part of a larger trade package, or keep him if they can't find a better player on a min contract to take his roster spot.

Orlando is a waste of time for Simmons at almost 28 but he's done very well to get a $20M deal, I like his story. I wonder why Spurs did not give him a deal, maybe they want to go into full rebuild mode soon.

On the other hand $6.5M a year is a terrific deal for Magic. The contract this year have been very affordable. If we had waited with CJ's extension and skipped Turner, Crabbe and Meyers last year, we'd have lots of space and ability to get some rotation gems in. But it's gone, even with full MLE (and we could have easily gone to a level where we would be allowed to use it, trading Davis alone would have been enough) we could have done something nice this offseason.

I think we got to be looking to trade Aminu or Davis (or Leonard if possible), unless Harkless really does go (we will need Aminu then).

Rumor was he didn't get along with Pop, felt like he was being limited in the Spurs system, and Pop didn't like some of his showboating.

Btw, what the fuck happened with LaMarsha asking to be traded?

Takes two to make a trade. The Spurs apparently didn't want to trade him for nothing but a salary dump--looks like no one wants to surrender value for the right to pay Aldridge like a star.

even the Spurs "magic" is not potent enough to avoid being sucked into the LaMarshmellow swamp, HaHa Spurs

I think Aldridge would be very valuable for teams looking to tank this upcoming season.
