I have two trains of thought on this:

1. Unlikely, because does Anthony in place of Love actually make Cleveland better? I'd argue it makes them worse, because Love is a better floor-stretcher and might even be a better defender (I think Love is below average on defense, but Anthony might be worse) but even if it doesn't actually make them worse, it's not a needle-mover to swap one for the other. James seems to want to add, not replace.

2. That does have some plausibility. Cleveland could be reluctant to give up a player they have under contract for another three seasons for a guy who could leave after one--but James wouldn't care about that, since he himself might leave after one season, if Cleveland gets waxed by Golden State again.

LeBron seems to really like to team up with his fellow Class of 2003 high lottery picks - first Wade and Bosh and now he wants Carmelo. Perhaps CLE should appease him and sign Darko to a vet min deal. Maybe lure Kaman out of retirement.

LeBron is a smart guy. I don't know how he thinks the team can/should be improved. The team is strapped with no options to move forward.

I think he bought the hype that Cleveland "was close" on Butler or George. Personally, I don't see how they could have possibly landed either, but there were reports that claimed that.

Yeah, but that was before they won a title together. Titles forge an unbreakable bond of brotherhood, don't they?

Unless you're the Superbowl MVP, and then you leave immediately to sign a big contract with the Raiders.

We'll find out after we win the title tonight.

Toronto has sought to deal Valanciunas since the February trade deadline. They’d had conversations with Detroit and New Orleans then, sources said, and continued to have discussions around Valanciunas at the draft, but talks with the likes of Sacramento, Phoenix, Charlotte, Portland and Atlanta did not get very far.

^ Saw this somewhere else. Wonder what was offered.

Doesn't really make sense to bring him in with Nurk.

If I'm NOP I'm offering Cousins for Valancuinas, Poeltl, and other young assets. I think they'll miss the playoffs and Cousins will leave, so they should get something for him. Toronto is desperate to get that final piece.

I don't understand this.
When JV gets touches and isn't iced out by that backcourt/and or coach he's super effective and efficient.
It's not a coincidence one of the games Nurk struggled in was against the Raptors. JV is hyper talented, hyper skilled and very underrated.
Why in the world would the Raptors look to trade their best player, when it's so obvious to outside lookers he's not being used correctly...

I think that's why Raptors fans don't like Casey

I'm torn, I think he's great at making adjustments.
I just think he's too much like Sarge.
Just read what DeMarre Carroll said about the team upon his exit.

"I wasn't happy, my agent, we thought the style of ball was going to be different, it was going to be more team-oriented, but I guess it was still ISO, so I thought they would have moved me last year, but that didn't happen."

The stats back it up to. ISO ball will not take you far in the playoffs.

Didn't they sign Calderon on day 1 of FA?
Yeah, but he's 35 and making the vet min. Surely Rose--if healthy--is still a superior overall player (though Calderon is the better passer/shooter).

Imagine if Rose is finally healthy and back to 2011 form!

I'm looking at various rosters in the Trade Machine to try to identify teams that could use some of our players. But what I'm noticing is that most rosters are fucking terrible and there's nothing I want back from any of the teams! With that said, I seem to recall ATL and MIL as being horribly balanced teams. Also, PHI could take on Meyers/Davis while only sending back $1.5M...Neil needs to sell them on the idea of Meyers' outside game mixing well with Embiid!

I'm looking forward to the trade deadline to see which teams are looking to reset and which teams are looking for a "missing piece".

Rose is a good opportunity for Cleveland. He will never go back to his best but still isn't old at 28 and could provide some ability off the bench as well as when the second unit plays while Kyrie is rested.

I wonder if Kyrie would have believed that Rose would be his back up 6 years from being drafted.
