Serious question: how many of Nurkic's missed games in DEN were DNP- CD? I know he had knee surgery during his second season, and of course, the non-displaced fibular fracture in POR, but when I look back at his game logs and box scores in DEN, it seems like there were a lot of games where he was dressed and eligible to play but didn't.

BNM

There were some of these but mostly it was injuries.

One guy made Minnesota a preferred destination. Maybe he just really digs ice fishing. Until more stars put the Timberwolves on their preferred destination list, I wouldn't start worrying that Portland has definitively fallen behind on the list of cities players want to be.

Kyrie Irving believes that the earth is FLAT.
Didn't keep going to the Lottery last time he had a team for himself? Now he believes he can carry a team? Which he didn't even do at Duke (Nolan Smith ...). He wants to play in NY ... great. Please trade him to the Knicks.

KAT made the Wolves a destination.

If you're Minny you package anything outside KAT/Butler for Kyrie.

KAT/Butler/Kyrie is a core that would contend in two years or so.

A lot depends on what Minne does when those young players are due for their next contracts.

Thibs is a pretty good coach and definitely impressed team USA players...I think that's the draw even for Butler

We have Dame, CJ, and Nurk.

Playing in Mr. Freise's favorite vacation spot is better than Portland?

In terms of talent though, the list would go:

KAT
Dame
Butler
CJ
Wiggins
Nurk

Also...... we already have a point guard.

Maybe if this was 15 years ago, dominant big men like KAT don't have a massive impact on today's game. Look at Porzingis, KAT, AD, Cousins. Big dudes just don't make anyone else better, typically, unless they pass like Marc Gasol and that is pushing it. Also a dominant big man is most likely to alter the flow of an offense. It's hard to compete in this league when you're trying to slow it down and dump it in to your big when everyone else is running and bombing 3s.

Butler
Dame
CJ
KAT
Nurk
Wiggins

KAT is as talented as the rest of this list all together. You cannot expect Porzingis and KAT having massive impact in their second year, but they ll probably do in their 4th or so. AD has such a shitty supporting cast that cannot be really blamed for not a massive impact+he is kind of injury prone.

I'd easily trade CJ or Dame(ok I have to keep one :P )+Nurk for KAT . Wouldn't even take a second to think about it.

I'd put Nurk ahead of Wiggins because of defense. Wiggins plays none. So far, all he's shown he can do is be an inefficient volume scorer on a 20-something win team.

MIN also has a PG - one (Jeff Teague) they just signed for $19 million a year for the next three years. He's not nearly as good as Kyrie, but they can't trade him until December 15, and then they need to find a taker.

He'd never want to play in Oregon. We're located much to close to the edge.

Either that or he knows Winter is coming and wants to fight the white walkers.

I'd put Butler second on the list and Wiggins last on the list. Wiggins seems/seemed to have a world of promise, but so far he's been Rudy Gay.
Dude idk. I'd think fans from most teama would take wiggins and Teague over Nurkic. I love Nurk, but I still want to see him do it a full season.

Teague made an all star game, even if it was in the East and has been solid for awhile. Wiggins has had a better overall career so far.

I don't think most teams would take Teague over Nurkic. Teague is an okay player--even with only 20 games as a world beater, I think Nurkic's upside would be preferable.

I agree that most (probably all) teams would take Wiggins over Nurkic. Wiggins still engenders true belief as far as I can tell. I'm not much of a believer that he'll be an NBA star/superstar (and I did think he had that kind of talent when he was drafted).

Kyrie is getting traded to the Knicks looks like for Melo and picks...Suns are rumored to be the 3rd team somehow...I'd assume for Love...not sure what the Suns give up in the deal. Gordon maybe?
