So, if the Cavs embrace a rebuild and trade Irving (and, I assume, Love)--do they trade LeBron James? I assume it'd have to with his blessing, if they don't want to earn the enmity of Ohio forever (and James may have a no-trade clause--it would be weird if he didn't, but I have no idea). But you'd think James would want out now, if the Cavs rebuild, not in one year.

This could be the greatest sell-off in NBA history.

The problem is, he just made it clear that he will only be happy if he is the best player on his team, and any team that has Kyrie Irving as their best player isn't a contender.

So, either he's delusional, or he values his own stats over winning.

This is what I have an issue with, this whole situation makes him come off as a douche with a huge ego

I can't even think of a team off the top of my head except one that has the assets for this. The Celtics hands down
Celtics won't trade for Kyrie. They're saving their assets for somebody like Anthony Davis, who is better and at a position of need, or they'll simply hold onto the picks and be great for the next 10 years.

Fuck it. Send him to the Knicks for Carmelo and some future draft picks. He wants to be the man? He wants to pay in a big market? Fine, let him head up that shit show for the rest of his career.

BNM

I'd do that deal if I were NY.

yeah the cavs don't give a fuck where HE wants to go, they will trade with somebody they can get the most value for. People are already laughing at them right now, the last thing they will do is get fucked in a trade

Yep, without a no trade clause, they can trade him wherever they want, whether he likes it or not.

You have to think...

Trade Lebron to BOS for Tatum, Horford and their 2018 BKN and LAL picks...
Trade Kyrie to New York for Melo and NYKs 2018 and 2020 1sts.
Trade Melo to anyone for a 2018 1st.
Trade Horford to anyone for a borderline top 10 2018 1st.
Trade Love to anyone for a borderline top 10 2018 1st.

They could potentially get 6 lottery picks next year, with three top 5 picks (BKN, LAL, their own).

Of course, I just don't see why Cleveland would. That's pennies on the dollar and Irving doesn't have a no-trade clause. The Cavs can hold out for the best deal.

Dude, why would Melo agree to a trade to CLE if Lebron and Kyrie are not on the team?

I honestly don't think Boston does this, or even seriously considers it, unless James absolutely commits to re-signing long-term in Boston. They're not trading away all their incredible future value for a one-year shot.

There's no way in hell that Melo would waive his NTC to go to a team that's falling apart.

It'd basically be a three way trade with Melo going from NY to somewhere else with CLE facilitating. They should try to do it. Even with Kyrie, NYKs picks will still be high for the next couple years.

If he wants to be the best player on a team, then why does he want to go to SAS and MIN?

Because he thinks he would be the best player in MIN or SAS. As soon as he realizes he's not, he'll pout again and either demand another trade or leave for nothing when his contract is up.

I seriously want nothing to do with any player who tries to forces his way out of a winning situation. To me, that makes him the anti-Lillard.

I'm regretting trading our 2018 CLE first rounder for their 2017 pick now (#26, Caleb).

Wonder what the protection was on that pick, but CLE is about to go into the tank soon.

Melo will only waive his NTC for Houston and Cleveland..... and if Cleveland is falling apart, he'll take them off his list. So why would Cleveland take back any of Houston's trash to facilitate a trade?

Probably won't be until after this season... unless they trade LeBron. A 2019 pick, on the other hand, could have been worth it's weight in gold.

If Melo can be gotten for assets, that's extra assets that CLE could extrapolate from NYK. NYK doesn't have the room to take on Kyrie's full salary, I believe.

...if Cleveland is smart they will ship him out West somewhere like Denver or Phoenix, but when do you ever hear Cleveland and smart in the same sentence :dunno:

Denver can package:
Mudiay
Faried
Barton
Etc...

Phoenix can package:
Bledsoe
Bender/Chriss
Ulis
Etc...

I don't think Denver has enough to trade for him. They don't have someone ready to play minutes on a contender outside of Faried and Barton (who play SF and PF, so they wouldn't start).

Melo wants to go to Houston, so the Cavs would still have to take on some shitty contracts from the Rockets.
