You have to think...

Trade Lebron to BOS for Tatum, Horford and their 2018 BKN and LAL picks...
Trade Kyrie to New York for Melo and NYKs 2018 and 2020 1sts.
Trade Melo to anyone for a 2018 1st.
Trade Horford to anyone for a borderline top 10 2018 1st.
Trade Love to anyone for a borderline top 10 2018 1st.

They could potentially get 6 lottery picks next year, with three top 5 picks (BKN, LAL, their own).

Melo still has a no trade clause. They can't just turn around and dump him on anyone.

Those last three are a LOT of salary going out, with none coming in. Are there even that many teams left that have the cap space to absorb those contracts ($22.4 million, $26.2 million and $27.7 million)?

I could see Utah trying to make a play for him by offering Mitchell, Exum, Bradley, and picks.

Irving/Hood/Ingles/Favors/Gobert
Vet PG/Johnson/Sefelosha/?/?

If I'm Minnesota I'm offering up Wiggins for Irving.
They are gonna sign him to a 148 Million dollar contract. I don't think they can consider trading him now, that would be embarrassing for all involved.

Because he thinks he would be the best player in MIN or SAS. As soon as he realizes he's not, he'll pout again and either demand another trade or leave for nothing when his contract is up.

I seriously want nothing to do with any player who tries to forces his way out of a winning situation. To me, that makes him the anti-Lillard.

Agree. And aside from that, with the disarray in the Cavs front office, and their inability to add game-changers this off season to keep up with Golden Shower State, it is almost a certainty that Lebron walks after this year. If Irving had any intelligence whatsoever, he would keep his mouth shut, play the season out, and watch Lebron leave Cleveland again. He would have his own team AND be the hero. He would go down in Cavs history as the loyal guy who stuck it out - best of both worlds.

But then again, no one is arguing that Mr. Flat Earth himself is MENSA material.

I know I make up some crazy trades.... but Bones..... I just don't know.

I feel like Irving kinda fucked Cleveland over by only mentioning this now, after Chris Paul, Paul George and Jimmy Butler were off the market. Butler, in particular, would very likely have been an upgrade on Irving. With Irving as trade bait, they likely could have won the Butler sweepstakes, either directly with Chicago or by arranging a three-way deal.

He got into Duke...

Would you trade CJ for him?
I've often thought that CJ (who is also from Ohio) would be better for the Cavs than Irving, becaue LeBron is their PG but they can play CJ at the 1. But Irving makes no sense for us, so it would have to be a three-way. But with whom?

Spurs would be a good fit for him.

But the Spurs have zilch to offer.

He is only 25 years old. He has two years left on his contract, with a player option for a third year. The Cavs can't fuck this up. LeBron is probably leaving after this next season. Kyrie was supposed to be the future of the team. They can't just dump him to the Spurs for someone like LMA.

What if Cleveland trades lebron instead of kyrie? Wouldn't that be smarter? Lebron has a no trade clause too...if he gets put on the block.....

One of these things is not like the others:

2016-17 NBA Finals:

Kevin Durant - 108 FGA, .698 TS%
LeBron James - 117 FGA, .630 TS%
Stephon Curry - 90 FGA, .619 TS%
Kyrie Irving - 123 FGA, .558 TS%

And he wants an even larger role in his team's offense. If anything, his role was already too big.

Jeezes yall....

If they can't get assets from a 3rd team taking Melo, they won't do it. Y'all never pay attention to what I'm saying, and then say I don't know what I'm talking about from you taking it out of context.

If NYK could trade Melo to a 3rd team and get a couple assets, they could use those assets along with picks to potentially land Kyrie. How does that make sense? I don't think that 2 picks is enough as it is, so they'll have to use Melo to add those assets to CLE's haul in a 3-team trade.

this is a pure ego play and anyone should run far away from Kyrie

Remember the days when lma was supposedly unhappy cuz he wasn't the guy, was always 2nd or 3rd fiddle and supposedly was angling to leave pdx until Roys knees died after oden.... then he wanted to be 'the guy' then he wanted to be 'the guy on a winning team' and now he is unhappy on SAS because they aren't gonna win with him as #1. Pure ego moves. They want the recognition. Seems Kyrie wants to 'show what he can do'...

Kyrie is Aldridge jr

You keep saying "a third team" but Melo wants to go to Houston. That's the third team, and the whole reason why the trade hasn't happened is because Houston doesn't have shit to offer.
