Embiid is a special talent but man, that deal is ridiculous for someone who has basically missed his first three years. He was very good when he played but that was for 31 games in a season that they largely wrote off anyway, then he went off with injury and has not been playing full time basketball for about six months since.

At his best and in full health Embiid is worth $25M a year or so. He is signing for $30M a year while forever injured, this is just insane.

So he didn't have the ultimate green light playing for Terry FUCKING Stotts in a 2nd unit deprived of good shooters ? Give me a fucking break.

While I hear you, ultimate green light in the first unit is a big difference from a green light in the second. BKN giving him the keys.

...as much as he can have "the keys" playing with DeAngelo Russell and Jeremy Lin...

Still, I am interested to see how he performs in a more featured role. I can't imagine he's going to get as consistently clean of looks in Brooklyn as what he got playing with Dame/CJ.

Yeah but he has no pressure in Brooklyn. If he misses it's not like anyone else could have done better as opposed to playing with Dame and CJ where he might think about passing up a decent shot. When he played without them with our bench, he shot more. But it's not like he shot a low percentage in Portland.

I know it'd be hard for you with your work schedule, but this info is also for anyone else interested. You can sign up with www.nbl.tv and watch every NBL game for only $5 AUD per month, or sign up to watch only one NBL team for free. We're only a couple of games into our season, and it goes until March. Games usually start between 9PM PDT, and 1:30AM PDT.

Yeah he was over here by himself, without family, and returned to be with a sick family member. Very different situation to a younger player coming out here.

Little brothers are always jealous of their big brothers, kind of like I imagine it is between you , and Canada.
Or I could just go down to Outback Steakhouse and watch!

WTF ever Crabbe...

I don't buy for one damn second that Terry "3 point" Stotts restricted you in ANY WAY from shooting when your hoisting them up at a 44% clip!! GTFO.

You're soft, a defensive liability, and was reluctant to shoot. Your 1.7 3s per will be easily replaced.

We will see how Crabbe does when teams are zeroing in on him specifically.

It's not like he's the best player on the team. The Nets aren't completely bereft of talent. They have Russell, who is their best player. They have Jeremy Lin as well. I don't think Crabbe is going to be the main focus of the defense.

I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, given his Cal education, but I always got the impression his airy demeanor is a cover for not being all that bright. I'm not surprised Stott's motion offense overwhelmed him in the thinking department.

But he will be a focus and team will scout him. No one said he would be a main focus but teams will still gameplan against him.

Wow, a lot of sour grapes about Crabbe here! Let the guy find success, why dontch'alls. It's not like he went to the Warriors or something.

Haters right?! All this guy do was be the 3rd best 3point shooter in the league. AND he was a 2nd rounder

We’ll be complaining all year too, watch, when we can’t find a consistent 3 point shooter outside of Dame and Cj

1.7.

Other players in Crabbe's league as a shooter and all around contributor. None are compensated comparably to him.

I wish him the best, he did just fine for us.

A second rounder that turns into something is always a bonus. Crabbe got paid because he put in the work and BKN thought he was worth it when his contract was up.

Lucky for us we had a very good draft and now have new prospects to oogle over. Everyone's happy. It's not like he left us hanging like La-marshmellow.

He did leave us hanging. He signed an offer sheet to play for another team. Just because we stupidly matched it doesn't mean he didn't try to leave us.

That said, if I'm him, I'm signing that contract as soon as humanly possible.

It's true though right?
No, it isn't.

If preseason doesn't matter, then why are you on the boards during the preseason?

If the regular season doesn't matter, but it's the playoffs that are important, then, again, why are you on during the regular season?

If the 1st couple of rounds of the playoffs don't matter because it's really the finals that matters, then why not just wait until the finals?

Of course, in the even larger picture, a couple of dudes putting a ball in a poor imitation of a basket is kinda stupid, too.

Maybe just go back to debating John Deere vs. Kubota?

Kind of like Nic, except Nic begged us not to match......

I don't think Crabbe wanted us to match, either, which I certainly don't blame him for.
Nor do I blame him for having an awesome agent to get such an offer sheet.

In fact, I don't blame him for anything, and wish him well. However, I do blame Roy, Wes, and LMA.

Wait what? Wes? What did he do?

Crabbe and his agent were at least professional about it. I don't remember hearing a word from either. Nic let his agent run his mouth. That was on him.

Wait what? Wes? What did he do?

Wes was insistent that he get paid big bucks AND made into a "first option" player on offense WHEN he was totally injured with an injury that few EVER recover from. Of course he wanted that to happen on a good team, so he declined Sac's offer.

Dallas paid him outrageous $$$, and it was one of the worst decisions they've made in recent history.

Insistent or did his agent gauge the market and find him the best deal? Insistent in being the first option or wanting to be more involved? That's not the way I remember it.
