I don’t think last years tank has been worth it so far. If you are going to go through what we went though last season, the return on investment needs to be greater. But I will wait to see if last years tank paid off until the end of this season.

If Sharpe becomes a star player at any point with us the return on investment was worth it. Lillard got shut down because he had a lingering injury he should of taken care of years prior and we would’ve been bounced in the play-in game at the very least.

That's the thing though. At a certain point you have to ask how much a player like Kawhi will actually help them. Dude has barely played for a couple of years, and it doesn't seem like his trajectory is any different this season. At this point, I am not exactly counting on contributions to the team.
When healthy he was/is a Top 5 player in the NBA. Unfortunately his injuries have just derailed his career. True we might not see the same Kawhi that won championships in SA and TOR. But he is the reason the Clippers get respect, it’s not PG. People were high on the clippers because of the prospect of Kawhi returning.

If healthy, I think he helps them tremendously. Completely different team.

I can't disagree with any of that. Kawhi has been an amazing player. The two key words in the previous sentence though are "has" and "been".

That and their depth...right? You look at their roster and they should be able to absorb his occasional injury against an OKC. Their offense played great, but the starters all were all around a -14, except George who was a -25. My guess is they were overconfident and simply took the game for granted. Not a good idea in the NBA, no matter who you are playing. George has had a slow start from 3, I would expect him to get better.

Exactly. But we are biased because while others overvalue the Clippers, we are fine not relying on Norm and RoCo minutes to win games.

Clips are trash. Completely overrated. Not a contender. They’re like the Nets. Nice on paper but swept in the first round. IF they make the playoffs.

I know I can't speak for anybody but myself, but for the purposes of this post and the point I'm making, it might work if I did

* this act you're doing: nobody is enjoying it. This ridiculously exaggerated 'everybody sucks but us' drill is just painful nonsense you are selfishly dropping over and over in every single thread. It's a completely unfunny comedian showing up on the TV every 30 seconds screaming the same horseshit over and over like some deranged Mynah Bird that has been chugging a fool's mixture of red bull, espresso, and meth.

a little of it would go a damn long ways, but that happened months ago. I see over and over that 2 or 3 or 4 people here are having a substantive discussion about this or that and you butt in with this pathological crap. It would be better if you just abandoned this pointless act, but for chrissakes, at least take a break every now and then. You're just trolling, and eventually everybody hates a troll

...with all due respect of course

Soooo much of this.
Thank you. Very well put.
Much more respectful that i would have been at this point.
Its sad he doesn't seem to get it turns people off from listening to his podcast. So it actually affects the things he is doing in real life. Maybe he just doesn't care…

what did we go thru last season? honestly?

Portland was 13 games under .500 before the tank even started. That was 55 games into the season. At that rate, the Blazers were going to win 31 games. They ended up winning 27, so you're somehow seeing ordeal in losing an extra 4 games out of 82? Mountain meet molehill

and what was the alternative that was so fucking attractive that some of you are ridiculously acting like Portland sacrificed something by changing the course of the team. They did not. The 7th reboot of olshey's busted vision was going nowhere. The record 55 games into the season was proof enough of that even if the previous 6 seasons weren't...but they were the proof of course

I mean, the alternative was to keep olshey, CJ, RoCo (and let him walk), Powell at SF, and Nance (on the IR). What the fuck was lost in abandoning all that lunacy?

olshey fired your boy Stotts as a cover for his own failed tenure as GM. When Seattle finally had enough of olshey and fired his ass (6 long years too late), CJ, Powell, and RoCo were as good as gone. It was over. That team was kaput. That brand of boring pointless mediocrity was shit-canned the second olshey got his walking papers. Yeah, there may be a new brand of mediocrity directly on the horizon, but at least it's something different. And just maybe there's a path out of the mediocrity. There sure the fuck wasn't when olshey was in charge

My HO is the Clippers are load/effort managing to the extreme. Make the playoffs then get serious. Against shitty tankning teams they dont care. Work enough for a middle seed while staying healthy. I dont like it, if true, and hope it fails in the playoffs.

Sounds weird but I think I take Luka over Giannis.

I guess it depends on what you want. I think Doncic is very much like Brandon Roy in that there can be no other ball-dominant player on the team. I think it will be extremely difficult to build a contender around Doncic. Giannis already has a ring

I mean, without making it about olshey, if only the Blazers had drafted Giannis when they had the chance I think Dame/Giannis would have 2 or 3 rings right now. Dame/Doncic wouldn't.

I think Luka musta had a redbull or an espresso before that OT. Just an insane performance. Then that behind the back pass... Aren't those reserved for 20pt leads? Guess not. It was just a great slap in the face to BKN; "your efforts are futile." Thank fucking jesus Bullock make it.

buncha bullshit rich bitches buying rings. Cant play fair cause i have money…
billionaires suck.

It's the player's union resisting it, not the billionaire owners. The owners typically want balanced opportunities. They of course want whatever advantage they can get, but most need that "level" playing field concept first.

when CBA's are being negotiated, both side usually threaten to be willing to die on hills they have no intention of dying on

the player's union might be willing to die on the hard cap hill. Regardless, the NBA needs to implement some kind of limit on this super-team bullshit. I think the Warriors are over 430M right now in payroll and repeater tax. That's fucking insanity

the owners need to implement a hard-cap by another name. They need to triple or quadruple the repeater tax penalties and make them kick in one or two years sooner. Warriors would very likely blink if they were paying 1.43B this year instead of 430M. That kind of shit absolutely must end

They are all spoiled richies. Forcing themselves out of teams and onto other teams. Players are just as bad.
but thanks for clearing that up.
